"LET'S MAKE A MUSIC!
Let's get free of the funk that we're in!
Make some noise out of tweet suggestions!"
- Let's Make a Music's Opening Theme

A comedic, music-based podcast, Let's Make A Music's premise is exactly what the name implies: the three hosts (Brian David Gilbert, Lauren Katherine Gilbert, and Karen Han) alongside their instrumentalist (Jonah Scott) gather suggestions via tweets to use in brainstorming a new hit song, often leading to chaotic ends. The songs are then compiled into albums/ EPs for purchase on Bandcamp. Originally started in 2017 with Jonah as a host instead of Karen, the show went through a long, uncertain hiatus of 2 years after the hosts disbanded the podcast to focus on other projects, before being gently retooled in 2020 during the pandemic with a new theme song and the new host, Karen, taking over Jonah's place so Jonah could settle into being only the instrumentalist. Since its return the podcast releases new episodes every two weeks, as well as giving a word prompt for their twitter followers to use as inspiration for music prompts at (roughly) the same time as announcing a new episode. Their personal website can be found here.

Let's Make A Music provides examples of:

  • Audience Participation: Loads, as the premise demands. The hosts will read out tweets sent to them and then discuss how to add them all together into a coherent (or... not so coherent) song by the end of the episode.
  • Creator Couple: Brian and Karen are in a relationship.
  • Once per Episode: The three hosts have an off-topic conversation before the theme song fades in. One of them also mentions something so odd or strange the episode diverts from the actual prompts to discuss what was said, and it then ends up in the lyrics of the song. In the newer episodes, Karen critiques those who replied to the prompt tweet on their ability to give good song prompts.
  • Put on a Bus: A very downplayed example; due to stepping down as a host Jonah no longer speaks on the podcast, but he's still the one composing for all the of the instruments in the songs and the hosts reference him plenty during the discussion section of the show.
  • Running Gag: The original season of the podcast had the hosts (mainly Brian) semi-frequently reminding the listeners that the song they're writing is sure to become a best-seller; the goal of hitting the charts as a driving force in the series was largely dropped in the newer set of episodes, though.
  • Serious Business: Despite the comedy bent to the podcast, all the people involved are creative, skilled artists and so the songs they make are recorded as professionally as possible, even if they aren't written seriously.
