Basic Trope: A deceased person is brought back to life against their wishes.

  • Straight: Bob brings Sally Back from the Dead, and Sally is unhappy for having her eternal rest disturbed.
  • Exaggerated: Sally is constantly killed, only to get resurrected by Bob every time, something that annoys her very much.
  • Downplayed: Sally is upset at Bob for bringing her back to life, but ultimately accepts her second chance at life.
  • Justified:
    • Bob sacrificed innocent lives to bring her back. Sally is downright horrified that her life was bought at the cost of others.
    • Sally Came Back Wrong.
    • Bob brought her back in a way that forces her to suffer And I Must Scream situation. That isn't living at all.
    • Sally hated her own life.
    • The afterlife is a much more pleasant place than the land of the living.
  • Inverted: Sally doesn't want to die.
  • Subverted:
    • It looks like Sally is upset about Bob reviving her, but it turns out to be something else.
    • Sally gives Bob a scolding for bringing her back, except she is actually glad to be back to the land of the living.
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...Except she really is upset with Bob's actions after all.
    • Sally was initially feigning anger at Bob, but soon becomes upset at him for real.
  • Parodied: Sally shows her displeasure by acting like a little kid, making faces, stomping her feet, and giving Big Stupid Doo Doo Head insults.
  • Zig-Zagged: Sally is upset that Bob revived her, because she wanted it to be on her terms.
  • Averted: Sally is outright grateful to be given a second chance at life.
  • Enforced: The author explicitly wanted us to know that it is not okay to mess with the laws of life and death, so they wrote down this reaction to show us the resurrected's point of view.
  • Lampshaded:
Bob: I brought you back to life! Aren't you happy?
Sally: I never asked you to bring me back to life, especially not with the way you did it!
  • Invoked: Bob's benefactor decides to give him the means to resurrect Sally just to prove a point and force him to realize that he never considered if she would want that.
  • Exploited: Bob resurrected Sally because he knew she would be invaluable in stopping the Monster of the Week. But so did the monster, and it takes its opportunity to run amok while Sally refuses to help because she'd rather have stayed dead.
  • Discussed: "You might be able to bring Sally back to life, but are you sure that's what she wants? Especially after everything you've sacrificed?"
  • Defied:
  • Played for Drama: Bob sacrificed so many lives to resurrect Sally, but she's so horrified by what he's done that she ultimately takes her own life, rendering Bob's goal All for Nothing.
  • Played for Laughs: ???
