Basic Trope: Trying to help someone who doesn't need help only makes the situation worse.

  • Straight: Hannah tries to help Tony, who is blind, carry his bag. Tony doesn't need any help, and tries to tell Hannah that he has the situation under control. Hannah doesn't listen and ends up dropping his bag.
  • Exaggerated: Hannah insistently steps in to walk Tony through an entire process despite him repeatedly saying that he doesn't need help. Somehow, her helping Tony leads to a mistake that shouldn't even be possible.
  • Downplayed: Nothing bad happens because of Hannah helping Tony, but he's still upset because the situation was completely under his control.
  • Justified: Hannah believes Disabled Means Helpless and doesn't understand anything about Tony, but still wanted to help him anyway.
  • Inverted: Tony really needs help, but Hannah won't help him.
  • Subverted: ???
  • Double Subverted: ???
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Hannah only helps Tony when he needs it.
  • Enforced: The writers are trying to teach the audience why it's important to ask before you assist someone.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Hannah is sure to ask Tony if he needs help before stepping in to do so.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "He already told her repeatedly that he has it under control, but she's still stepping in to help anyway. I'm gonna guess she's gonna mess something up..."
