Basic Trope: When time is viewed differently.
- Straight:
- Bob sees 1 minute as 1 day.
- Bob sees 1 year as 1 minute.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob views 1 day as 1 million years.
- Bob views an eon as a second.
- Downplayed:
- Bob sees 30 minutes as 1 hour.
- Bob sees 1 day as 12 hours.
- Justified:
- Bob is a mayfly and can only live for short.
- Bob is from a species with an extremely long lifespan, or maybe immortal.
- Bob is a time traveler.
- Bob is an alien with Bizarre Alien Biology and his brain (or the equivalent) processes information at a much slower or faster rate than a human brain, so his subjective experience of time is different.
- Bob is an artificial neural network that spans the entire solar system. Because it spans such a large distance, it takes much longer for neurons to transmit information to each other and even simple thoughts take hours to process. As a result, from Bob's perspective, time passes much faster.
- Inverted:
- Subverted:
- Double Subverted:
- Parodied:
- Zig Zagged:
- Averted: Bob views time normally.
- Enforced:
- Lampshaded:
- "You've only been here for ten seconds and you're already bored?"
- "It's only for one century? We can't live that long!"
- Defied: Even though time is different to Bob, he'll try to take it seriously as everyone else.
- Exploited:
- Discussed:
- Conversed:
- Deconstructed:
- Because Bob has been around for millennia, he doesn't remember the events he experienced so long ago.
- Reconstructed:
- Bob keeps track of all his memories, so he won't be completely lost in his long life.
