- Implied: Giant Spiders are a now extinct species, and while debates are heated on what drove them to extinction, there's a popular (and surprisingly plausible) theory that one person did it by themselves.
- Deconstructed: The giant spiders are exterminated, but it turns out that they were an important element of Tropeland's ecosystem. With them out of the picture, even worse monsters, specifically giant cockroaches, that the spiders kept in check multiply in number and spread, becoming far more damaging than the spiders ever were.
