Basic Trope: Some sort of gigantic marine animal.
- Straight: Alice and Bob are attacked by the mighty Tropid, a 42 meters long giant squid with certain monstrous elements.
- Exaggerated: The Tropids are 150 meters long, don’t have to resurface in centuries, have 80 tentacles, many teeth, and 1 eye.
- Downplayed: The Tropids are just 20 meters long squids, that don’t otherwise look any different from other squids.
- Justified: The Tropids naturally evolved to be like this.
- The Tropids are Lovecraftian abominations.
- Inverted: The Tropids are small, cute and huggable, aquarium squids.
- Subverted: Alice sees a huge shadow in the water and warns Bob, only for a puny, small fish to come out of the water…
- Double Subverted: But then it keeps coming out, revealing that the “fish” was just the small head of an otherwise giant Tropid.
