Basic Trope: A person's voice becomes an octave or two (or more) lower after increasing their strength.

  • Straight: After transforming into a superhero, Bob's normal voice becomes lower-pitched.
  • Exaggerated: After transforming into a superhero, Bob's normal voice becomes almost like Barry White's.
  • Downplayed: Bob's voice is noticeably lower after using a power boost...and said power boost is barely noticeable otherwise.
  • Justified: Bob becomes taller and more muscular as a superhero, so it's natural that he would have larger proportionate vocal cords.
  • Inverted: When using his powers, Bob's deep voice turns high-pitched.
  • Subverted: Bob's voice does go deeper when using powers, but it happens to be just Bob making use of his vocal range to trick everyone.
  • Double Subverted: While messing with everyone with his vocal range, his voice goes even lower as he uses powers.
  • Parodied: After transforming into a superhero, Alice's normal high-pitched squeaky voice becomes deeper than Barry White's.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob is far stronger with a much lower-pitched voice after using his powers...except these powers also have the side-effect of making his courage as flimsy as a twig at the first sign of a challenge to him.
  • Averted: Bob's voice remains unchanged when using his powers.
  • Enforced: Bob is a character in an audio book, and the creators want to make it easy for listeners to tell when he's in his powered-up form.
  • Lampshaded: "Cower before my might! Tremble at the sound of my booming voice!"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited:
    • Bob is trying to escape pursuers that know what his normal voice sounds like, so he uses his powers, dresses up in an disguise, and talks to his pursuers, hoping his deeper voice will aid the facade.
    • People are angry at Bob breaking stuff while using his powers and wearing his superhero costume, which superhero Bob is surprised by and answers as such in kind. Realizing his voice is far deeper and quite different, superhero Bob escapes out of sight to take off his costume, and later joins everyone else on the vitriol against superhero Bob which no one realizes is him due to the different voices.
  • Defied: Bob refuses to speak when using his powers.
  • Discussed: "Did you hear how low Bob's voice got when he used his powers? It was really intimidating."
  • Conversed: "Aw, my voice is still the same? I was hoping it would get really deep when I used my powers, like that guy in my favorite show."
