Basic Trope: A Serial Killer who operates on causing Death by Irony.

  • Straight: Bob the Bloody impales Alice in the heart with her own sword, burns Charlie alive with his own research, and forces Dracone to eat the contents of his Shrine to Self, suffocating him to death.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Bob the Rapturous kills every single person in the world in an ironic way after ascending to godhood.
    • Bob only targets other serial killers and kills them using the exact same methods that they used on their victims.
  • Downplayed: Bob the Bloody cuts off Alice's arm with her sword, paralyzes Charlie using his own research, and maims Dracone with the contents of his Shrine to Self.
  • Justified: Bob believes that this is the "correct" way to kill "flawed" people.
  • Inverted: Bob saves Alice, Charlie, and Dracone in ways that purposefully highlight their virtues.
  • Subverted: Alice, Charlie, and Dracone die ironic deaths, and the heroes investigating the case suspect Bob the Bloody somehow set the irony up...but when he's caught, he confesses he just attacked where he happened to find each of his victims alone with whatever was handy.
  • Double Subverted:...however, he adds, now that they mention it, that's a fun idea.
  • Parodied: Bob is a plumber. After he fixes the sink, Alice states that she is "out of money" but can repay in other ways. Bob proceeds to beat her to death with a toilet.
  • Zig-Zagged:
  • Averted: The Serial Killer just kills with no regard to ironic deaths.
  • Enforced: The creator originally writes Bob the Bloody as killing people in a more prosaic fashion, but then he thinks making him run on Death by Irony will add flair.
  • Lampshaded: "A fighter killed with her sword, a scientist with his work, and an egotist with his personal shrine... this smacks of irony."
  • Invoked: Bob's Evil Mentor suggests that he kill people in ironic ways.
  • Exploited: Because Bob usually kills people in ironic ways, the heroes identify objects and places he might strike next and set up traps to catch him before he kills again.
  • Defied: Bob briefly considers killing people in ironic ways before dismissing it.
  • Discussed: "There's a pattern here, but I'm nut sure if it's what I think it is."
  • Conversed: "Oh, the old 'ironic Serial Killer' shtick strikes again."
  • Implied: Eva, who's been investigating the murders, comes out and Fiona asks her what they're going to do next. Eva tells her to order Gary not to come to work.

Greetings, Troper. As an ironic punishment for editing and Wiki Walking this website, you will suffer a Portal Cut going back to Poetic Serial Killer!
