Basic Trope: An obvious Godzilla expy.
- Straight: Tropezilla is a giant, reptilian, fire-breathing monster, that likes to go on rampages and attack Tokyo.
- Exaggerated: Tropezilla is Godzilla, in everything but name.
- Downplayed: Tropezilla is a vaguely reptilian giant, that likes attacking cities, but that's where the similarities end.
- Justified: Tropezilla is the same species as Godzilla.
- Inverted: Tropezilla is a tiny mammalian creature, that couldn't hurt a fly and has never been to Tokyo.
- Subverted: Bob panics and screams "It's Tropezilla!", but the creature he's looking at looks nothing like Godzilla.
- Double Subverted: Then, Alice corrects him - "No, Tropezilla's over there!" - and points to the actual Tropezilla.
- Parodied: Tropezilla is nicknamed "Not Godzilla".
- Zig-Zagged: Charlie asks Alice and Bob about Tropezilla. The two of them argue over Tropezilla's appearance and abilities, and each describe the monster differently, using some features that would resemble Godzilla, and some that would suggest it looks nothing like Godzilla.
- Averted:
- There is no Kaiju.
- Tropezilla doesn't resemble Godzilla.
- Enforced: The writers can't use the real Godzilla because of copyright law.
- Lampshaded: "That's not Godzilla!"
- Invoked: A mad scientist was inspired by the Godzilla movies, and genetically engineers his own Godzilla-like monster.
- Exploited: Because Tropezilla isn't Godzilla, the real Godzilla can be brought in to deal with him.
- Defied: The townspeople refuse to use the name Tropezilla, or do anything that would make any sort of connection between Tropezilla and Godzilla.
- Discussed: "Godzilla likes to attack Tokyo. If a monster attacked our city, it'd probably be a different zilla."
- Conversed: "Tropezilla is obviously just Godzilla with a different name. The writers don't have the copyright for the real Godzilla."
- Implied: There isn't a clear description of Tropezilla. The name is just mentioned, along with a description of the damage that Tropezilla caused.
- Played for Laughs: Tropezilla gets offended when someone refers to him as Godzilla, annoyed that he has to live in the shadow of his more famous cousin, and that people seem to think all of his species are the same.
