Basic Trope: Using the outdoors as a toilet.
- Straight: Alice pees outside.
- Exaggerated:
- Everyone pees outside.
- Alice both pees and poops outside.
- Alice not only pees outside, but she washes in the pond and does things outside that usually would be done in the bathroom.
- Downplayed: Alice thinks of peeing outside but doesn't actually do it.
- Justified:
- Alice was having a Potty Emergency in a place outside with no bathrooms, and the only other option would have been to wet herself.
- Alice is part of a culture where this behaviour is considered normal.
- Inverted:
- Alice takes a drink outside.
- Alice pees on the floor indoors.
- Subverted:
- Alice appears to be peeing outside but it's actually her water bottle leaking.
- Alice finds a bathroom right when she considers relieving herself behind a tree or bush.
- Double Subverted:
- Then she pees.
- The bathroom turns out to be out of order, leaving Alice with no choice but to pee behind a tree or bush anyway.
- Parodied: A little garden set aside just for peeing in.
- Zigzagged: Both Alice and Bob have a Potty Emergency and both consider peeing outside several times but are interrupted.
- Averted: Alice doesn't pee outside.
- Enforced: The writers want to use a little Toilet Humour and they feel that the best way to do that would be to have a character relieve themselves outside.
- Lampshaded:
- "Are you peein' on the flowers, Alice?"
- "Excuse me a minute. I need to go water a tree."
- Invoked: Bob tells Alice to pee outside.
- Exploited:
- Alice puts out a fire by peeing on it.
- Someone catches and photographs Alice peeing outside and uses the photograph for blackmail purposes.
- Defied: Alice refuses to pee outside.
- Discussed: "Is it okay to pee outside?"
- Conversed: "These characters always use the outdoors as a bathroom."
- Implied: Alice has a Potty Emergency and after going outside she doesn't have to go anymore.
- Deconstructed:
- Alice gets arrested for urinating in public.
- Alice isn't careful about where she pees and accidentally poisons a water source.
- Reconstructed:
- While she gets arrested, Alice doesn't have to do anything worse than pay a small fine.
- Whenever she's faced with the option of peeing outside, Alice is able to relieve herself discreetly so that no one sees her.
- Played for Laughs: People peeing outdoors can be a major source of Toilet Humour.
- Played for Drama: Alice pees on a flower and then it dies.
