Basic Trope: A pair of lovers who a share similar physical appearance.

  • Straight: Alice and her boyfriend, Bob, looks similar enough to pass as siblings.
  • Exaggerated: Alice and Bob have practically identical faces and builds, despite their lack of blood relation.
  • Downplayed: Alice and Bob has a similar face shape and eyes, but otherwise looks quite different from one another.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: Alice and Bob's appearances are completely opposite to one another. One is fat, the other lean. One is short, the other tall. One has Raven Hair, Ivory Skin, the other is dark-skinned and blond, bonus point if they are either Ugly Guy, Hot Wife or Hot Guy, Ugly Wife.
  • Subverted:
    • Alice and Bob are like two peas in a pod... when they started dating at 11 years old. As they grow up, they start to look less like each other.
    • Alice and Bob actually are siblings who only pretended to be lovers for a party.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Then, the couple starts wearing similar clothes and sporting similar hairstyles, so that they look more alike (at least from afar).
    • Alice eventually gets a boyfriend, Charlie, who looks almost exactly like her brother.
  • Parodied: Alice is in a costume party, and falls in love with a guy who wears the same mask as her.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice's friends see her on a date with a man who looks a lot like her, but when they ask her about him, she tells them he's her cousin. Only Alice is actually lying—the man was her childhood crush, but they aren't officially together yet. Several dates later, however, Alice decides that the two of them aren't really compatible and ends up with someone else, who looks suspiciously similar to the previous guy.
  • Averted: Alice and Bob look nothing alike.
  • Enforced:
    • The work's creator is an advocate of the Birds of a Feather trope, and believes that romantic couples must share as many similarities as possible, including their physical appearances.
    • Alice and Bob are played by real life siblings.
    • The creators don't want to spend too much time coming up with Alice's character design, so they make her look like a female version of Bob.
  • Lampshaded: "So Bob is actually your boyfriend? I thought he was your brother!"
  • Invoked:
    • Alice gets a plastic surgery to look more like Bob.
    • Alice and Bob start dressing similarly in order to look more like each other.
    • Alice and Bob start dating because they look similar to each other.
  • Exploited: Alice and Bob are in a Secret Relationship. Thankfully, they look similar enough to pass as siblings, so that their peers fail to notice that their shared affection is not actually familial in nature.
  • Defied: Alice refuses to date Bob on the grounds that he looks too similar to her. Alternatively, she gets a plastic surgery to deliberately make herself look more distinct from him.
  • Discussed:
Carol: Isn't that Alice over there? With a guy? Looks like she finally got herself a boyfriend.
Dave: Are you sure that isn't just her brother? They look kinda similar.
Carol: No. Alice doesn't have any siblings. And I'm pretty sure siblings don't shower that much affection to one another.
  • Conversed:
    • "How come couples in cartoons almost always look like each other?"
    • "When I first started watching The Alice and Bob Show, I thought Alice and Bob were supposed to be relatives at first, because of how similar they look."
  • Implied: Alice is seen hanging out with a guy who looks very similar to her. Alice has been established as an only child, but the exact nature of her relationship with the guy is unclear.
