Basic Trope: Lazily feminized male names or masculinized female names.
- Straight: Bob, for one of the numerous reasons, is now known as Bobine.
- Exaggerated: Alice becomes Alicius-John, Bob becomes Bobiana-Lynn.
- Downplayed: Alice becomes Allistair, Bob becomes Roberta.
- Justified: Bob wants to make sure people still know them under their other name.
- Inverted: ???
- Subverted: Bob is nicknamed Bobine but their legal name is Lucile.
- Double Subverted: Bob legally changes her legal name to Lucillas.
- Parodied:
- Since our protagonists have studied up on their foreign languages, Bob becomes Bab, and Alice becomes Olice.
- Bob becomes, at least momentarily, BobGenderFHairBlkEyesBluWhereIsTheNameField. (Don't ask.)
- Zig-Zagged: Bob constantly changes his name, sometimes it gets changed to something lazy (Bobine), and sometimes it's not (Clementine).
- Averted: Bob is now known as Clementine.
- Enforced: The writers cannot find a suitable opposite-gender equivalent for the character's name, so they just add a suffix to the end and call it a day.
- Lampshaded: "I know calling myself Bobine is lazy, but personally I believe it's cute."
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Alice assumes this new girl who showed up at school is Bob's Gender Bender Secret Identity because their name is Bobine.
- Defied: Bob is proposed to be called Bobine and refuses, preferring something more natural like "Roberta".
- Discussed: "So you're planning to break into The Commander's ball dance by dressing up in drag... yet you can't think of a better name than Bobette?"
- Conversed:"Geez, do writers know adding an -ette at the end of your Gender Bender is the laziest rename possible?"
- Played for Laughs: Bob becomes Bobine. Alice becomes... Alicine. "What? I was just following your lead!"
