Basic Trope: Two or more characters EACH order something for all of them. Mainly built around Ambiguous Syntax and confusion.

  • Straight: Alice orders two beers, one to her and one to Bob. However, Bob also orders two beers, assuming Alice's beers are for herself.
  • Exaggerated: Ten characters order ten beers each for the others.
  • Downplayed: Alice buys a beer for Bob. Bob buys one for himself, assuming the beer was for Alice.
  • Justified: Bob planned to buy two beers for him regardless of Alice's order.
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: Bob realizes Alice's order is for both of them and cancels his own order...
  • Double Subverted: ...Or instead buys two beers regardless as a sign of gratitude for Alice's order.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Alice orders "One beer for Bob here and one for myself."
  • Enforced: The purpose of this scene is to teach the audience why you shouldn't rely on implicit specification in the language being taught by the show.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: To make a drinking challenge, Alice orders 100 beers without specifying for whom. Bob, and an assortment of other characters, don't realize the beers are all for them. So, they all order 100 beers each. 1000 beers total, let the drinking games begin.
