The good side of a character's split personality is weaker and helpless to do anything while the evil side runs the show.

  • Straight: Angelo tries to convince his alter Diablo not to engage in the amoral acts that he does, but is ultimately unable to do anything.
  • Exaggerated: Angelo is caught up in the cacophony of alternate personalities scrambling for control, and is ultimately drowned out by his more aggressive alters.
  • Justified: Diablo is the Villain Protagonist of the story who commits worse and worse acts, and Angelo's lack of influence is a part of Diablo's character arc.
  • Inverted: The Jekyll Is a Jerk
  • Subverted: Diablo's control is only 50/50, and Angelo is occasionally able to influence Diablo into avoiding actions that would get them both killed otherwise.
  • Double Subverted: Despite Angelo's attempts, Diablo is still the more dominant of the two, and eventually ends up crossing the Moral Event Horizon.
  • Parodied: Angelo tries to get Diablo to quit smoking 50 packs of candy cigarettes and eat healthy, but Diablo will have none of them and buys 100 candy cigars just to spite Angelo.
  • Deconstructed: After Diablo goes too far and kills Bob's family out of pure spite, Angelo tries to do damage control and proclaim that he's trying to do good but Diablo is just too strong. Bob is simply disgusted and accuses Angelo of being complicit in Diablo's actions because he could've chosen to be good at any time, but simply chose to let Diablo run wild and blame him for everything.
