Basic Trope: Nonhuman characters frequently mention their species.
- Straight: Archer frequently mentions that he's a tiger-man.
- Exaggerated:
- Pretty much the only thing Archer ever does is announce that he's a tiger-man.
- All nonhuman characters regularly announce their species.
- Downplayed: Archer tends to bring up the fact that he's a tiger-man fairly often.
- Justified:
- Some people have the tendency to forget what species Archer is, so he's trying to remind them.
- Archer is very proud of his species.
- Archer's species is genuinely hard to tell apart from humans at a glance, so he prefers to outright state his species soon after meeting people to manage their expectations of him. The cast also happens to rotate a lot so he needs to tell a lot of people on-screen.
- Archer looks like an ordinary housecat, while evolving completely separate, as proven by fossil records and genetic sequencing. People mistaking him for a a normal cat or someone's familiar is a historically backed Berserk Button.
- Inverted:
- Archer never says what his species is.
- Archer insists that he is not a tiger-man despite nobody saying he was one.
- Alice frequently mentions that she's a human.
- Subverted: Archer was only pretending to be a tiger-man.
- Archer's insistent term that he is a Stonefoot isn't a reference to his species but of an occupation or a follower of a certain religion.
- Double Subverted: ???
- Parodied: Archer is literally unable to say anything other than what species he is.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Nonhuman characters don't mention their species very often, or even at all.
- Enforced: To have the audience remember what Archer is supposed to be.
- Lampshaded: "I'm a tiger-man! Prepare to hear that phrase seven times a day!"
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: "Yes, we get it, you're a tiger-man! Now stop telling us."
- Discussed: "Archer, why do you mention that you're a tiger-man all the time? I don't often mention that I'm a human."
- Conversed: "Do the people that made this show really think we're just gonna forget what species he is?"
Back to Have I Mentioned I Am a Dwarf Today?... oh yeah, and I'm a Troper!
