Basic Trope: A character is decent, but acts like he/she is naked.
- Straight: Alice ends up outside in her underwear and acts like she has no clothes on.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice's in her long underwear—a long-sleeve shirt and ankle-length pants—and everyone is reacting like she's baring it all.
- Alice is otherwise fully dressed, but she loses a single shoe and everyone (including herself) react like she's fully nude.
- Downplayed: People tell Alice she should put some more clothes on, but don't act like she's nude.
- Justified:
- Alice grew up in a traditional family, so being in her underwear is just as bad as full nudity.
- Alice is outside in her underwear against her will.
- Alice grew up in a culture that enforces modest clothing.
- Inverted: Alice is completely naked, but she acts like she has clothing on.
- Subverted:
- Alice ends up outside in her undies, freaks out, but realizes that she isn't naked.
- Alice doesn't believe herself to be naked, but her character in the film being shot is meant to be. note
- Double Subverted: But then her neighbors react like she has no clothes on.
- Parodied: Alice acts like this and states that she feels contractually obligated to.
- Zig Zagged: Alice acts like she has no clothes on, but keeps alternating between that and having no issue.
- Averted: Alice never flips out, just gets mildly annoyed.
- Enforced: The director wanted Alice to be fully naked because Naked People Are Funny, but the producers demanded he keep a PG-13 rating.
- Lampshaded:Bob: That bikini you wore last week was a lot skimpier than this underwear.Alice: But this is underwear though!!
- Invoked: Bob locks Alice out, knowing that she'll feel exposed.
- Exploited: Alice stages being locked out to get the attention of Bob.
- Defied: Alice has a spare set of clothes outside.
- Discussed: "Why does she think that she's in the buff?"
- Conversed: "We need to highlight how uptight Alice is!"
- Implied: "Alice's such a prude. One time, she went berserk because she got locked outside in her underwear!"
- Deconstructed: Alice is seen by her neighbors, who take pictures of her running around and post them online, basically ruining her life.
- Reconstructed: But, the pictures are taken down, the neighbors get in deep doo-doo, and Alice gains enough self-esteem not to feel naked while in her underwear.
- Played For Laughs: Alice's embarrassment is meant to be comical.
- Played For Drama: Alice feels deeply humiliated and refuses to go outside unless she is fully covered, even if it means risking her life.
