Playing With / Fixed Forward-Facing Weapon

Go To

Basic Trope: A powerful front-facing weapon that you can only aim by turning the entire vehicle.

  • Straight: The Mighty Mouse main battle tank has a few machine guns here and there, but it uses a Main Gatling Gun that can only be aimed by turning the whole tank around as it's only facing forward.
  • Exaggerated: The Mighty Mouse main battle tank has all of its weapons aiming forward and nowhere else (let's hope nobody shoots it In the Back).
  • Downplayed: The Mighty Mouse main battle tank's Main Gatling Gun can aim without having to turn the whole tank around, but its range of motion is so disgustingly small you'd be better off turning the tank either way.
  • Justified:
    • The Main Gatling Gun is so huge that the Mighty Mouse main battle tank is an accessory.
    • Whoever designed the Mighty Mouse main battle tank designed the Main Gatling Gun in order to tear into fleeing enemies.
    • The Main Gatling Gun is chambered in 40mm, which means that the Mighty Mouse main battle tank is essentially built around the Main Gatling Gun. Trying to mount the Main Gatling Gun on a vehicle that isn't explicitly designed to handle it (not even The Dreaded Dreadnought can handle a single Main Gatling Gun) will result in the whole damn thing being torn apart upon firing, and doubly so if it was free to turn and aim.
  • Inverted: The Main Gatling Gun is a Fixed Backward Facing Weapon.
  • Subverted: As it turns out, the Main Gatling Gun isn't fixed; It can freely aim around.
  • Double Subverted: But this risks damaging the Mighty Mouse, so you're better off turning the tank either way.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: The Main Gatling Gun's range of motion is... Wonky, to say the least.
  • Averted: The Mighty Mouse main battle tank has nothing of the sort.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: After one too many enemies flee, and there are only weapons firing off from the sides (which makes it impossible to chase after them), the designers install this into the Mighty Mouse.
  • Exploited: The Mighty Mouse has a weakpoint on the back, which means whoever gets to the back first can take the Mighty Mouse out.
  • Defied: The designers decide to not use this kind of weapon when designing The Dreaded Dreadnought.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???

Let's get back to the main page. I'm considering adding a Fixed Forward-Facing Weapon for those pesky fleeing enemies...
