- Straight: Bob and Alice find Dr. Death's secret lab, and explore it.
- Exaggerated: Bob and Alice spend several days investigating Dr Death's lab, bringing a team of experts to help them.
- Downplayed: Bob and Alice have a quick look around, and then beat a hasty exit from the lab.
- Justified: The lab will most likely contain Dr Death's plans for his Mega-Laser of Apocalypse.
- Inverted: Dr Death breaks into, and investigates, either Bob's or Alice's home.
- Subverted: Bob and Alice discover it's just an ordinary laboratory which has nothing to do with Dr Death.
- Double Subverted: But it contains a secret passage to Dr Death's actual lab.
- Parodied: The entrance to the lab contains a huge neon sign which says "DR DEATH'S SECRET LABORATORY! WIPE YOUR FEET BEFORE ENTERING!"
- Zig Zagged: It's not Dr Death's secret lab, it's his brother's... who's renting it to Dr Death... who uses it raise cute little rabbits... who are in fact murderous robots.
- Averted: Bob and Alice do not to explore the secret lab.
- Enforced: Viewers have to be shown how Bob and Alice came to the possession of Dr Death's Flesh-Dissolving Plasma Gun of Doom.
- Lampshaded: "Oh, I get it! This must be Dr Death's secret laboratory, so of course we're just gonna sneak in and have a look around, right?"
- Implied: Bob and Alice are shown sneaking through the lab's secret entrance. We hear sounds of drawers being opened and papers being shuffled off-screen.
- Exploited: Knowing Dr Death has anticipated their exploration of his lab, Bob and Alice hack into his security system, and reprogram it to attack the good doctor instead.
- Defied: Bob and Alice decide not to explore the secret lab, knowing that it will likely contain lethal security measures.
- Discussed: "This is too easy. A scientist of Dr Death's caliber would never leave a laboratory like this unguarded."
- Conversed: "How quaint. Evil scientists must always have these secret labs with the Tesla coils and steaming beakers..."
- Played For Laughs: Dr Death's lab is shown to contain a recipe for cupcakes, and a note reminding him to buy a new laundry detergent.
- Played For Drama: Dr Death's lab is shown to contain deformed fetuses in vats, and pictures of historic atrocities such as the Nanking massacre, and Cambodian genocide, proving that he's not just a harmless villain, but an insane monster.
