- Downplayed: The next song is a slow dance but Alice and Bob don't dance.
- Justified: The DJ has a specific set of songs set up, one of which is a slow dance.
- Inverted: The previous song was a slow dance and the next one is rave music.
- Subverted: Alice requests a song, leading the viewer to believe she is requesting a slow dance, but she is actually requesting her favorite pop song.
- Double Subverted: ...However, the DJ gets the songs mixed up and ends up playing a slow dance anyway.
- Parodied: Every time Bob and Alice run into each other, a slow dance inexplicably plays.
- Zig-Zagged: A slow dance comes on and Alice and Bob don't dance however they do dance to the rave music that comes afterwards.
- Averted: The next song is not a slow dance.
- Enforced: Alice and Bob have to slow dance otherwise the writers aren't allowed to use this song.
- Lampshaded: "A slow dance? Really? Somebody has to be doing this on purpose."
