Playing With / Constructive Body Disposal

Go To

Basic Trope: A character is killed and their body is buried under or within the foundation of a constructed building to hide the evidence.

  • Straight: After killing Bob, Alice hides his corpse in the cement foundation.
  • Exaggerated: Alice kills multiple people and disposes of them all in the same spot.
  • Downplayed: Alice buries incriminating photos in the cement.
  • Justified:
    • Alice is a construction worker, architect or security guard with access to the construction site.
    • Alice is a mafia boss, goon or Mafia Princess who is overseeing the construction site.
    • Alice accidentally killed Bob in a workplace accident by drowning him in cement.
  • Inverted: Alice needs to help Bob hide from someone trying to kill him. She hides him in a container and pours cement over it.
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted: ???
  • Parodied: A cheery tour guide takes a class of children on a field trip to the local museum, mentioning that multiple people were buried in it.
  • Averted: ???
  • Defied:???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: "Now we have a relationship we can build on."
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited:
  • Deconstructed:
    • A construction worker or security guard spots Alice burying Bob in the construction site.
    • Bob's decaying body weakens the concrete and causes a building collapse.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Alice kills the eyewitness and buries them in the concrete as well.
    • Alice owns the construction company and settles the resulting lawsuit out of court; alternatively, Alice knows enough engineering to realize this could potentially happen, so some months later she proactively informs the still-in-the-dark building owners about the situation and remedies the situation from an engineering standpoint at her company's expense. Either way, the murder evidence is kept covered up and (in the latter case) Alice manages to score some good PR points for her company as one that will fix mistakes rather than ignore them (ironic considering it was done to hide an outright crime).
  • Played for Laughs:
  • Played for Drama: The building becomes an office and Alice gets a job there, regretfully thinking about Bob every time she gets to work.
  • Played for Horror:
    • Alice is a Serial Killer who targets her victims this way.
    • The building becomes a school and Bob's ghost haunts Alice's daughter Carol.
  • Implied:
    • A skeleton is found during the demolition of a building.
    • Alice is seen wheeling a bloody object covered in a black tarp to the construction site.
    • Alice accidentally kills Bob and frets on how to get rid of it. Later on, she is seen paying multiple visits to a construction site and the finished building afterwards, nervously checking for cracks and smells.
  • Unparodied:
  • Untwisted: ???
