Basic Trope: A squint that emphasizes badassery.
- Straight: Bob has a constant squint, often as a focused Death Glare.
- Exaggerated: Everyone's constantly squinting.
- Downplayed: Bob doesn't really squint much.
- Justified:
- The setting is in a desert, and Bob doesn't want to get sand in his eyes. Also, it's really bright out there.
- Bob is Asian, particularly Japanese, Chinese, or Korean.
- Bob is Blind Without 'Em, and has to squint to make up for his poor eyesight.
- Bob is a Large Ham, and will do anything to dramatize a scene.
- Bob is easily annoyed and angered by everyone around him, but he doesn't want to lose control of himself. The squinting is his way of showing Tranquil Fury.
- Inverted: Bob is the most wide eyed of the cast.
- Subverted: Bob is actually closing his eyes.
- Double Subverted: He puts some glasses on, shaded or not, and suddenly he gets wide eyed.
- Parodied: See subverted, but that applies everywhere and he can't see anything.
- Zig-Zagged: Bob's eyelids do whatever the fuck they want whatever they feel like and constantly flicker up and down between scenes.
- Averted: Bob doesn't really squint much, and is typically wide eyed.
- Enforced:
- "We need to emphasize how badass Bob is! A good old Clint Squint will do!"
- Bob's actor, much like Clint Eastwood himself, is very sensitive to direct light and tobacco smoke, which makes him do the squint pretty much out of necessity.
- Invoked: Bob gets into a fight in a warehouse with pipes, someone strikes a pipe, releasing steam all around and also invoking Ominous Fog, and with his glasses clouded, he's forced to take them off and do a Clint Squint.
- Exploited:
- Bob uses his constant squint as to focus on things, giving him a much better aim than people.
- Alternatively, Bob's squints get exploited as he only focuses on what's ahead of him, any Combat Pragmatists could easily get him from behind.
- Defied: Bob wears glasses or gets some contacts to stop his squinting.
- Discussed: "Bob, you ever stop squinting or something?" "Nah, it's always either too bright or too dusty. Plus, it makes me look cool."
- Conversed: "Huh. You think Bob's a Large Ham who loooves Clint Eastwood?" "I dunno, maybe the set they're shooting in is so bright that he can't help it but squint."
