Basic Trope: A character's injuries are played for laughs.
- Straight: Bob is hit over the head with a large monkey wrench making a comical sounding bong noise.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob is run over by a steamroller. He is reduced to a flat square on the ground, but then pops back to shape no worse for wear.
- Death as Comedy
- Downplayed: Bob is hit on the head. Some of the things he says in his confusion are amusing, but his condition mostly treated seriously.
- Justified: Bob is immortal. Everyone around him is used to it, and so his injuries are never taken seriously.
- Inverted:
- Whenever Bob receives medicine and healing, it is played for laughs.
- Bob get a seemingly minor cut on his finger, and Alice desperately calls for an ambulance. And the whole thing is Played for Drama.
- Subverted: When Bob is injured at first, the circumstances seem silly, but then we see him hospitalized and obviously in pain for a while.
- Double Subverted: ...Except that he's only in the hospital for five minutes of the episode, after which he's running around and getting comical injuries once more.
- Parodied: Bob is violently beaten to death, but every blow creates a comical noise from a slapstick cartoon.
- Zig Zagged: Some injuries are played for laughs, some aren't, some seem to be both at once. There is no real pattern within the show.
- Averted: Bob's injuries are treated seriously, both by other characters and the show itself, and take time to heal.
- Enforced: "This is a cartoon, we can't have characters going through all that suffering and angst over their wounds! Let's play those injuries for laughs!"
- Lampshaded: "Ow, my small intestine! ...It'll be fine in a few minutes, it always is."
- Invoked: Bob uses his shapeshifting abilities to transform himself into comical shapes after getting hurt, so his injuries do not demoralize his comrades.
- Exploited: Bob's ability to withstand injuries is applied into real combat.
- Defied: Even though Bob is capable to withstanding deadly injuries, he still acts careful and tries to avoid them regardless.
- Discussed: "Oh no, Bob's hurt again!" "Haha, don't worry. He'll be fine in a few minutes. It's not like anyone's injuries are ever taken seriously here."
- Conversed: "Yeah, he can bounce back from that."
- Implied: We never see any blood in the scene.
- Deconstructed:
- Because Bob heals so soon from his injuries and everyone just treats them as some kind of joke, he goes into a deep depression, realizing he's fated to be constantly injured by his friends for the rest of his life.
- Bob suffers from physical trauma due to the injuries.
- Reconstructed: ...But then he gets over it, because at least he never dies from anything, right?
- Played for Laughs: What that trope usually is.
- Played for Drama: These are signs that Alice and Bob are in Demonic Possession.
- Played for Horror: Alice and Bob are transported into a cartoon world and Bob suffers comical injuries. Bob is then returned to the real world, and his injuries become gruesomely fatal.
"Ha ha ha! Those are some Amusing Injuries!"
