Nightmare Fuel / Yakuza: Like a Dragon

  • The end of Chapter 3 has some severe Mood Whiplash where, after an uplifting scene of Nanba and Ichiban celebrating their new home, the thug who was hired by the Geomijul to intimidate a bar whose owner had defied them is tortured and executed for his failure.
  • The Geomijul in general is considered by many in-universe as the most intimidating of the Ijin Three, and for good reason. Virtually nothing is known about them, as they keep all their operations top secret and their members don't have any way to be identified, dressing and acting like normal civilians right up until they strike. They have a strict policy of abducting, torturing, and murdering anyone that gets too close to their headquarters, and as Ichiban and co learn, they do not forget any slight they suffer, willing to wait a long time for the chance to take their revenge.
  • Sunlight Castle. Far from the elderly resort that is billed as, it is in fact essentially a giant prison where the Seiryu Clan torture and murder anyone who can't pay their debts. Especially since the Castle exclusively targets elderly civilians, a major taboo for the Yakuza.
  • At the end of Chapter 4, Ichiban, Nanba and Adachi return to Otohime Land to report to Nonomiya that Nanoha and her father are saved from the Seiryu Clan, only to discover that Nonomiya has been hanged.
  • Sawashiro graphically gouging out the eye of a Tojo patriarch for gloating about Arakawa's death. You'd think the camera would cut away just before the thumb goes in but it doesn't. It's made even more unnerving by how Sawashiro calmly wipes the blood on his hands off on the shoulders of another patriarch, who is struggling to keep his composure.
  • One of the Chef job's special moves is Essence of Human Grating, where the enemy's face is dragged across a giant wooden radish grater until it's utterly covered in their blood. In other words, it's a much, much more brutal version of the infamous Essence of Grating heat move from 5. The best party member to make a Chef is Zhao, a Soft-Spoken Sadist and the group's best cook, which makes sense. He even jokes in a Drink Link that he had a traitor turned into ground meat buns.
  • Yosuke Tendo. By the end of the game, his presence becomes more than fitting as the Climax Boss. As if being The Juggernaut wasn't already enough, he's at least a little more calculating as well, being eager to backstab and/or kill (if the former isn't literal) whoever he has to at the right moment, with more than just his brute strength at his disposal. When he brags right in front of Ichiban how he killed Arakawa with a sadistic smile on his face, you know he's looking forward to doing the same here with just his bare hands (and some brass knuckles).
