House of Assassins
- The true nature of the House of Assassins: all of them are stolen children who grow up to steal children who show signs of magical talent, in order to sustain their House's existence. Most of the children they steal don't measure up, so the Assassins brainwash and magically enslave them instead.
- Kabir did this to his own brother Dattu, whose "heart was too soft to take a life", on the orders of Sikasso, the head of the order. If Kabir had not done so, Sikasso would have killed Dattu.
- Perhaps the most horrible part is that they come to view this as being chosen for great power and offering great opportunity in turn, not as being kidnapped to be made into the same kind of kidnappers themselves.
