Awesome moments in The Saga of the Forgotten Warrior include most of the book, but here are some highlights:

Awesome Moments in Son of the Black Sword

  • The party scene. Ashok fights an entire ballroom of warriors, and destroys his false House in the process, single-handed. Correia has stated that he wrote the entire book to have somewhere for that scene.
  • Ashok choosing to save the casteless children, even though it will probably mean his life, and fulfilling The Forgotten's prophecy in the process.
  • Devedas slaughtering the Inquisition assassins.
  • Ashok killing Sikasso's men and taking Sikasso's arm—after they'd assumed he was dead from his fight with Nadan Samsok. Mostly because we see the whole thing from Sikasso's viewpoint, and watch his smug confidence melt into a magnificent Oh, Crap! moment.
  • Ashok's prayer to The Forgotten rivals Conan's for reverence: he warns the gods that they will have to face him if they demand anything contrary to his code.

Awesome Moments in House of Assassins:

  • Near the end, Ashok is impaled on a meathook that pierces his heart. After Angruvadal brings him back, he proceeds to pull himself up the chain with one and yank the hook out of his heart with the other.
    Sikasso: "WHY WON'T YOU DIE!?"
  • Sikasso ripping off the demon arm that was trying to control him is an act even Ashok respects, as is going toe-to-toe with the big demon in defense of his House.
  • Inquisitor Javed might be a complete psycho, but his slaughtering the wizard assassin team after they have been tormenting and murdering Keta's band of free fugitives is downright therapeutic.
  • "Risaldar. There's always time for arson."
  • Karno showing up to save Rada from bounty hunters.
  • Ashok fighting 5 demons, including the hugest ever seen, and winning with the aid of Dattu the slave
  • The Sons of the Black Sword killing a demon without Ashok, who had gone ahead to try to rescue Thera from the House of Assassins. No magical sword ( Ashok doesn't have it by this point anyway). No Protector with unequaled abilities and tactical knowledge. Just a cobbled-together group of disgraced warriors and even some workers taking down a superhuman abomination the hard way. When they realize they've actually won, the chapter ends with "They were all too stunned to cheer."
    • Gutch, a master blacksmith rather than a warrior, gets a moment of his own by landing a critical blow on the demon with a large spiked club, breaking its knee.

Awesome Moments in Destroyer of Worlds

  • Harta Vadal confronting Witch Hunter Khoja and preventing him from taking Rada.
  • Rada saving Jagdish.
  • Karno killing Khoja with help from Rada and Asura's mirror.
Karno had been obligated to protect this woman, and that obligation did not end merely because he'd been bitten by a tiger, stabbed six times, and left for dead face down in a lakebed.
  • Ashok taking on ten Protectors at once... as a distraction.
  • Gupta's Firestick brigade in the final battle "As One!"
