- ANY scene featuring Rain's abusive dad Marcus. Most of the time, you never get to see his face. All you see is a shadowy figure with Opaque Lenses.
- The first time we see him
is arguably his most terrifying appearance. A young Rain is trying one of Kellen's dresses when Marcus suddenly walks right into the room. He reacts with complete and utter disgust and demands Rain to take the dress off, but when she refuses...Marcus: What are you waiting for!? I SAID TAKE IT OFF!! OR I'LL TAKE IT OFF FOR YOU!!
- The first time we see him
- While the the chapter itself is pretty lighthearted, Chapter 6's cover art is very ominious. It shows Rain in an angel costume falling into a black void.
- Maria cannot even begin to describe what happens in gay conversion camps. She simply begins crying in Emily's arms out of dread.
- Crossing over into Tearjerker, Rain wakes up from her dream to find out Kellen cut her hair. She keeps hoping this is just a terrible dream and that she’ll wake up. She never does.
- Ana telling Gavin that her ex-boyfriend attacked her. We never see it or even shown snippets of in a flashback, but the somber look Ana's face tells you everything you need to know.
- Chase' rape and impregnation of Emily is a truly horrifying revelation. It isn’t shown on page thankfully enough, but the immense impact it has on Emily's life is enough to send chills down your spine.
- Doubling as Tearjerker. Chapter 40 opens with probably the most despair inducing moment in the whole comic. Emily, along with Rain, walks into her house, expecting to confront her mom, only to find nobody there. All they find is a letter that says she is yet again away on business. The sheer hatred in Emily's voice will haunt your nightmares.Emily: Why can’t you ever just be here, mom?
I just wanted to tell you...how much I HATE YOU!!! - An unintentional example, but Baby Lydia can come across as somewhat creepy due to the way she’s drawn.
