Nightmare Fuel / Newsflesh

• The entire premise, really:
  • Every mammal on the planet is infected.
  • Any mammal over forty pounds will automatically reanimate upon death.
  • Newly converted zombies can, in the right conditions, still pass for the living until they're up close.
  • They get smarter the bigger a group they're in.
  • If you're bitten, you've got five minutes at most before you convert. Once someone's been bitten, they're legally dead, even if their mind is still temporarily their own.
  • While it's rare, it's possible to go into spontaneous amplification while still alive. No wonder a lot of people are too scared to leave their houses.
  • ...And then we find out about the virus-carrying mosquitoes.
• The backstory of the virus was Nightmare Fuel for the person at the CDC who helped Mira Grant workshop it:
  "If I do this, this, this, this, this, and this, can I create a zombie apocalypse?" "No."
  (repeat several times, until...)
  "If I do this, this, this, this, this, this, and this, can I create a zombie apocalypse?" "... ... ... ...don't do that..."
