Nightmare Fuel / Hello Puppets!

Go To

  • The fact that Owen Gubberson went as far as to bring his puppets to life via black magic just because his show was threatened with cancellation. While it is kind of understandable it’s not hard for anyone to think of him as a madman.

  • The way Mortimer suddenly springs to life when he first meets the player. While some players could find it at least startling, the way the puppet looks combined with his loud voice doesn’t really help matters.

  • Riley Ruckus is overall the most disturbing of the puppets, she’s a Victor Frankenstein-type mad scientist who immediately began combining puppets with other creatures and presumably humans as well when she was first brought to life. Her introduction is somewhat unnerving as she talks to the Host and Scout through a large screen with only a closeup of her face being seen, the fact that Scout tells the Host to pretend she’s controlling them can mean that Riley would plan on having both of them killed if she caught the Host having free will of their own mostly due to her Ax-Crazy nature but also due to the fact that she hates Scout with a burning passion.

  • The Hosts, including the one Scout controls are this, all of them are everyday people who were kidnapped and taken to Mortimer and Riley’s lair to be used as slaves. The biggest mystery about them has to be the fact that they can’t or won’t speak, they have what appears to be masks or bags tied to their heads and the fact that the puppets control them not the other way around like it’s usually supposed to be. There’s also the delightful fact that the puppets, including Scout seem to drain the life essence out of their Hosts which could mean that the puppets are using them until they die and they’re able to kidnap more, making the cycle repeat again.

  • The way Mortimer threatens to gouge Riley’s eyes out and how Riley threatens to disembowel Scout near the game’s ending.

  • Rosco, Riley’s pet dog was seemingly a cute and friendly dog puppet until Owen brought him to life, Riley took other creatures and fused them and Rosco together, making the dog into a large monstrosity that constantly pursues the Host and Scout throughout the game and won’t stop until he kills the two of them.
