"SOMEBODY HELP ME!"
For a series about cute virtual creatures, CRiTORA can have some disturbing moments. As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned!

    In General
  • ViRUSES in general. They may be small, but the moment they attack a CRiTORA, the CRiTORA transforms into a corrupt, destructive version of themself called a V-CRiTORA.
    • On that note, DDB originally had plans for permanent V-CRiTORA. The one pictured above? That's supposed to be Eggy's sister, Yolky. And in that form, she could use her claws to slash through and delete anything or anyone in her way. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why DDB deemed this idea too dark and binned it.
  • Two words: Infestation Invasion. An event shown in CRiTORA: Abnormal where ViRUSES swarmed CRiTOPiA and infected every CRiTORA. It's a good thing OS created the GUARDiANS to save the city...
    • The novel series shows how the event began and who the first two CRiTORA to be infected were: Yolky and Eggy, in that order. And the narration notes this was Eggy's first time encountering a ViRUS, too.

    Main Series
  • Eggy transforming into V-Eggy in "Beware the ViRUSES" can be disturbing to watch.
  • In "Beware the ViRUSES" , Queen Creatophage pulls a string that creates a hole and drops the trio of ViRUSES to what is presumably an endless fall.

    Abnormal
  • The whole concept of the Abnormal District. When compared to CRiTOPiA, the Abnormal District is very creepy and looks wrong.
  • The ViRUSES encountered in the Abnormal District. Unlike the ones found on the surface, these ViRUSES have strange deformities. Fortunately, they're unable to infect despite their appearances.
  • Chapter 9 reveals a rather lurid detail about V-CRiTORA: if there are no other CRiTORA in the area for them to infect, they come right back to their senses. Basically, it's all but outright stated that all V-CRiTORA are aware of their condition to some degree, but unless somebody finds the means to disinfect them, there's nothing they can do but fight an uphill battle against their instincts to infect everyone around them.
    • It gets worse if one remembers that the Infestation Invasion is a thing— that means that of the many CRiTORA that OS created, all but 20note  have experienced this at least once each. If that ain't Fridge Horror in its purest form...
