[[caption-width-right:288:[[SchmuckBait It's]] [[WhamEpisode not]] [[SurpriseCreepy kidding]].]]

Everything begins with a single click. Within a few hours, your cookie production frenzy reaches levels that will [[GoneHorriblyRight make you]] [[NightmareFuel feel regret]].
* As you earn achievements, the pool of milk turns brown (chocolate), and then... red. It's supposed to be "raspberry milk," an AuthorAppeal substance that most players have never heard of. Instead, you're likely to think it's [[OverdrawnAtTheBloodBank a huge pool of blood]]. The fact that it turns red around the time you hit the Grandmapocalypse doesn't help.
** Note that the milk wasn't labeled at first, so you just had the colour to go by, pretty much everybody thought it was meant to be blood until the label was added to the stats screen.
* The Grandmapocalypse itself, featuring things such as giant EldritchAbomination Grandmas that threaten entire cities and secrete cookies and sugar, other otherworldly abominations wanting to try your cookies, and "highways of flesh".
** There's also fact that by the time you get there, you have turned every atom in the universe into cookies and have them [[UpToEleven rewrite the]] '''[[UpToEleven fundamental laws of the Universe]]''', making it look like nothing can stop you. [[EldritchAbomination No]][[ElderGods pe.]]
* Even without the Grandmapocalypse, you have things such as a time machine that steals cookies from the past, cookies becoming such SeriousBusiness that they become the lifeblood of the world economy and [[ComplainingAboutPeopleNotLikingTheShow showing allergic reactions to them brands you as a social outcast]], devices that convert antimatter into cookies, and producing so many cookies that every last molecule in the universe turns into cookies!
* All of these horrible and creepy things happen ''[[{{Greed}} just so you can build a massive cookie empire.]]'' When you snap out of it, you will most likely never eat cookies or approach elderly women (''especially'' your own grandmothers, if any) again for a long time.
* 1.039 adds [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131029040833/cookieclicker/images/c/c4/Wrinkler.png Wrinklers]]. They're large, fleshy parasites that start appearing when you trigger the Grandmapocalypse, and they suck your CPS if they get to your big cookie. Luckily, despite their appearance, they're nothing more than a nuisance. That, and they can actually HELP bake cookies through idling with them and THEN killing them.
** There's also the grandma's purchase icon [[NightmareFace shifting]] as the Grandmapocalypse advances. There's absolutely no previous warning of this, so it'll certainly catch you by surprise.
** When an Elder Pledge wears off, the sudden transition from their normal form to their final form qualifies as a bit of a JumpScare.
* The Christmas update has Santa. Suprisingly enough, the last form of Santa isn't really all that scary, should you be used to the typical Grandmapocalypse things. But True Santa, on the other hard... [[http://static1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131220211727/cookieclicker/images/e/ee/Truesanta.png Yeah.]]
** Because the news ticker doesn't change or acknowledge Final Claus's form, some believe he's [[CreepyGood just as benevolent]] [[GoodAllAlong as he's always been.]]
* The Dungeon Update: Revealing what kind of madness goes on inside of the factories. And that they send ''children'' there to get rid of "pests".
** It also brings along lovely messages such as "''Your cookies have developed sentience''"
* The fact that ancient baking artifacts are discovered on distant planets. The terrifying implications are that ''something made the Grandmatriarches in all their creepiness '''leave''' '' before you called them back.
''We rise.''
