Since this is the Grand Finale for Wolverine and Xavier in the franchise, references to previous material are bound to pop up in Logan.
  • Comics!Donald Pierce and the Reavers created the androids Albert (a Wolverine clone) and Elsie-Dee, which parallel Transigen's clones X-24 and Laura.
  • When introducing to the Munsons, Logan calls Charles "Chuck". This is indeed Wolverine's informal pet name for Xavier in the comics.
  • Logan gets to wear his most common civilian outfit in the comics: a brown jacket, black shirt, and jeans. He also wears his usual white tank shirt and jeans combo. The children later pranks a sleeping Logan by cutting his beard, making his facial hair stand out as more like the comics.
  • In one of Laura's comics, the supervillain Sauron (image above) appears in a comic titled: "SUDDENLY: SAURON!"
  • The comic that Laura reads features Wolverine (with Hugh Jackman's likeness) in a comics-accurate costume. Given that Logan does not wear the costume at any point in the movie, this is the closest thing the audience gets to seeing Wolverine in a costume on film.note
  • The editing of dialogue by Logan and Caliban in one of the trailers ends with an almost-Title Drop to the film's main influence, Old Man Logan.
Caliban: Something's happening to you, Logan. You're not healing.
Logan: That's right. I'm an old man.
  • Whereas in the comic books X-23 is a designation specifically for Laura, in the film it's treated much more like the Sisters in All-New Wolverine, where it denotes a series of experiments. In the movie, the format is X23-##. Laura herself is X23-23, in reference to her being the X-23 in the books.
  • Near the beginning of the film, when Logan explains to a dementia-ridden Charles that the X-Men are dead now, Charles asks Logan "What did you do?", apparently believing him to be responsible. In the Old Man Logan story, Logan himself was the killer of the X-Men, having been brainwashed into doing so by Mysterio.
  • Like in Wolverine and the X-Men (2009), Wolverine helps an African-American family who offers him (and Xavier and Laura) a meal, and who are endangered by a military ops team. Sadly, this family doesn't survive.
