Initially formed by SM Entertainment in 2005 as a rotational [[UpToEleven twelve]] member BoyBand named [[MeaningfulRename Super Junior]] '05, '''Super Junior''' (Korean: 슈퍼주니어), also known as ''SJ'' or ''SUJU'', is a popular [[KoreanPopMusic Korean boy band]] whose number ranges between [[PutOnABus seven]] and [[FanonDiscontinuity fifteen]] members depending on who you ask.

The twelve-member group debuted with the song "Twins", and later promoted the song "Miracle" which was part of the same album. As promotions for "Miracle" ended, new members for the next generation, Super Junior 06, were being selected, but the rotational concept was tossed after adding a thirteenth member, Kyuhyun, in 2006.

They're notable for being the first large South Korean idol group, with thirteen members at its peak. The large number allows the group to have a wide range of activities, such as creating sub-units, making forays into acting and hosting on television programs, concerts, and radio shows. [[FollowTheLeader All of which are have become common practices in the South Korean popular music industry.]] However, in October 2009, member Kangin was charged with a [[DrunkDriver DUI and hit-and-run]], and in December of the same year, Hankyung filed for contract termination due to unlawful contract provisions. Hankyung left the group permanently, while Kangin returned to the group after his military service (and was on hiatus once again after another DUI). Kibum was also inactive in the group's promotions due to his acting activities since 2009, and officially left in 2015. Sungmin, upon the violent reactions towards the announcement of his marriage in 2014, decided not to participate in the group's comeback activities in 2017. Members Zhoumi and Henry were added to the sub-unit Super Junior-M in 2008, but due to the mostly negative reactions from Korean fans, the two were not added to the official Super Junior lineup. Henry decided not to renew his contract with SM Entertainment in 2018 and has announced plans of establishing his own agency.

They're also well-known for the ridiculous amount of {{fanservice}} they provide their fans with ([[OlderThanYouThink but that's nothing new]]), and the... enthusiasm and possessiveness of said fans. While Super Junior still plays up the HoYay, their fans have relatively calmed down in later years.

Without doubt, their most popular track is their best-selling single [[SignatureSong "Sorry, Sorry"]], which became South Korea's best-selling album of 2009, and the best-selling Korean pop album in Taiwan, Thailand, and China. In addition, it was the first Korean pop album to reach number one in Philippine music charts. The song collected ten number-one awards for ten consecutive weeks in Korea, and stayed as number one for 37 weeks in Taiwanese music charts.

However, even before "Sorry, Sorry", the group was already considered a success in Korea. Their first title song as a thirteen-member group, "U", was up for free download on their official website in 2006, and exceeded 400,000 downloads within five hours of release and ultimately surpassed 1.7 million downloads, becoming one of Korea's most popular songs of the year. Their first concert in 2008 was an Asian tour (South Korea, China, Thailand). Sub-unit Super Junior-K.R.Y. became popular for singing in original soundtracks for KoreanDrama series. In 2008, Super Junior-T's "Rokkugo!!!" instantly became a domestic hit, while Super Junior-M's popularity in China instantly rose up after appearing in variety shows.

In 2010, the track "BONAMANA" was released, and despite not being as popular as "Sorry, Sorry", it outsold said album and was at the top of Taiwan's Korean-Japanese music charts for 61 consecutive weeks. "Mr. Simple", released in 2012, peaked at number three on the Billboard World Albums Chart and outsold "BONAMANA". The group was crowned 'Album King' in Taiwan, after both albums ranked 1st and 2nd on both album and music sections of the Korean Music Chart 2012.

Special Japanese versions of "U" and "Sorry, Sorry" were released in Japanese. In 2011, singles "BONAMANA" and "Mr. Simple" and in 2012, "Opera" and "Sexy, Free, and Single" were all released in Japan, but the group's official Japanese debut was in 2013, with the release of the album "Hero". The album contained Japanese versions of previously released Super Junior songs Wonder Boy, Our Love, and A-Cha and Japanese versions of the sub-units' notable songs. This is also the only album in which the group promoted without its leader Leeteuk, who was in the middle of his mandatory military service.

The group went into a two-year hiatus starting in 2015 after the release of their special albums "Devil" and "Magic", as five (Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon) out of eleven active members were to be enlisted in the military, with two (Ryeowook, Kyuhyun) following them in 2016 and 2017. After the five returned from military service, the group came back to the Korean music scene with "Black Suit", only featuring seven members due to Kangin's [[DrunkDriver drunk-driving incident]] and Sungmin's decision to not participate. Siwon was later [[PutOnABus removed]] from promotions as the co-CEO of Hanilkwan died due to contracting sepsis after getting bitten by his family dog, but returned for the repackage album promotions. In 2018, Super Junior debuted on the Latin Billboard Charts with American singer Leslie Grace & American record-production duo Play-N-Skillz with the [[FunWithForeignLanguages trilingual]] song "Lo Siento". This milestone is a first for K-pop acts and marked new territory for the Korean-music scene, leading SM Entertainment to announce that they will expand its market to Latin America.

!!General tropes:

[[folder:Band and Member Tropes]]
* AerithAndBob: Leeteuk, Heechul, Han Geng/Hankyung, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kibum, Kyuhyun, Zhou Mi, and [[OddNameOut Henry]]. While Han Geng/Hankyung and Zhou Mi's names are obviously not Korean, Henry's just sticks out as that one English name. Justified, as he's [[CanadaEh Canadian]].

** Henry is called "Henhen", "mochi", "4D mochi", and "daramjwi" ([[AnimalMotifs chipmunk]]).
* AgentMulder: Donghae believes in ghosts and aliens.
* AllMenArePerverts: The members accused Eunhyuk of having a lot of porn in his computer, and that he watches porn the most in the group.
* AnimalMotifs:
** Leeteuk is associated with ducks.
** Heechul is associated with cats.
** Yesung with turtles (since he has it as a pet) and dogs (because Heechul calls him "rabid dog").
** Kangin is labeled as a raccoon.
** Sungmin is associated with rabbits, especially pink ones.
** Eunhyuk is called as a monkey and as an anchovy, both due to his looks.
** Donghae is associated with any type of fish, since his name means the [[MeaningfulName East Sea]].
** Siwon is called as a horse, due to his looks.
** Zhoumi is a koala, an alien, or a [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs koala-alien]].
** Henry is a chipmunk.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: The youngest members Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, and Henry have their moments, but especially evil maknae Kyuhyun, who likes playing pranks on and speaking informally to the older members. There's also Donghae, who likes to annoy the older members but gets away with it because the older ones find him cute.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: When they appeared on the show Intimate Note, Kangin listed his own faults as being playing favorites with the younger members, not rehearsing well enough, and gaining weight.
* AsianDrivers: A whole episode of the show King Saturday Driving School features Kangin trying to teach Leeteuk how to drive and a nervous Sungmin putting on his seatbelt in the backseat. Later averted when Yesung and him had a reality show where they both had to be taxi drivers.
* AscendedExtra: Other members fill in the spots of the members who can't attend performances due to certain events (other schedules, military enlistment), leading to more parts for those who initially had little.
* AttentionWhore: Leeteuk, who is a self-proclaimed attention seeker. He does all sorts of things so that he has lots of screentime. He even gets the nickname "''gwanjong''", which is shorthand for "''gwansimjongja''" used to describe someone who is an attention-seeker.
* AttractiveBentGender: [[https://pm1.narvii.com/6147/2c992462d416b703ec148238bb8c41a32ef39dee_hq.jpg Leeteuk]], [[https://randomthingswelove.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/heechul-heechulism-antics-cinderella.jpg Heechul]], [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BGIOd0SCIAApB2w.jpg Sungmin]], [[https://i2.wp.com/i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx116/milichan28/super%20junior/422025-0027.jpg Donghae]], and [[http://78.media.tumblr.com/5625165455f5db63fd19bf1cb600546e/tumblr_nfg8mcE0FL1qgh5gxo1_1280.jpg Ryeowook]].
* BigBrotherBully: All of them are bullies (including Kyuhyun who bullies the ''older ones''), but Kangin mostly fulfills this role in the group, especially because he often threatens the others with chasing them if they pull a prank on him.
* TheBigGuy: Shindong, and to a lesser extent, Kangin.
* BigOlEyebrows: Siwon sports very thick ones that are at least partly responsible for his... interesting facial expressions.
* {{Bishonen}}: Most if not all of the boys are tall, slim and damn pretty.
* BoyBand: Obvious KoreanPopMusic example. One of the biggest ones too.
* BreakoutCharacter: Hankyung in China. He went from being a boyband member to carrying out the big accomplishment of carrying the Olympic torch, debuting as a soloist and doing well in sales, and being cast for [[Film/TransformersAgeOfExtinction Transformers: Age of Extinction]] (though said role was only TheCameo).
* TheBusCameBack:
** All of the members come back to the group after their military enlistment.
** A minor example but no one has really heard from Kibum since he stopped performing with the group and he even stopped posting on social media for a while. Not long after the ''MAMACITA'' promotions began, he posted to his twitter again - and fans exploded with happiness.
* ButterFace: Eunhyuk usually ends up like this when he has to cross-dress. He is lean and thin so his body looks perfect, but his [[https://68.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lldqr2DUvy1qftczro1_500.jpg face]] is a bit more... [[http://a9.vietbao.vn/images/vn905/Chau_A/50905305_5.jpg realistic]]. He averted this one time, though, when he pretended to be a [[http://68.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3u7rj7dMn1rn46a0.jpg "Miss Shanghai]] in Intimate Note and ended up looking [[https://x1aobat.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/intimatenote282009-04-24295b280863892923-43-465d.jpg pretty]] thanks to a suitable hairstyle.
* TheCameo:
** The group appears in a cameo for the Korean adaptation of [[Manga/ItazuraNaKiss Mischievious Kiss]]
** Leeteuk and Eunhyuk appear as the Sukira DJs in [[Series/DreamHigh Dream High]].
** Heechul appears in [[Series/TheHeirs The Heirs]] as himself.
** Sungmin acted in Music/DongBangShinKi's Banjun drama episode as Yoochun's childhood friend.
* CantHoldHisLiquor:
** Sungmin talking about Ryeowook on radio broadcast:
--> '''Sungmin''': He looks very calm and quiet on the outside. He looks careful and delicate, so of course you'd think that Ryeowook can't handle alcohol! Many people would have this mindset that he'll get drunk just by having one drop of alcohol... But it's not like that! He can drink at least 2 bottles of soju, and if he's in a good mood after the concert, he can drink up to 4!
** Some people think that Eunhyuk avoids liquor because he gets drunk easily, but it's just because of a promise he made with [[Music/DongBangShinKi JYJ's]] Junsu when they were trainees, which is not to drink or smoke ever in their lives. Junsu broke it early on, and Eunhyuk eventually tried drinking when he was 27 (with the help of Shindong and Kyuhyun). During his first time drinking, he was drunk enough to dance ''Sorry, Sorry'' in front of the Arc de Triomphe in France.
** Donghae doesn't like drinking, and during his appearance in Life Bar (where the guests are invited to drink, since it's, well, a [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin bar]]), his forehead turned red with just half a glass of beer. Heechul mentions that it might be Donghae's first one shot ever in his life.
--> '''Heechul''': Let's see Donghae drink it first. Show them that oppa is an adult already.
* CandidCameraPrank: They love doing this, especially to poor Eunhyuk [[ButtMonkey who has been victim to four or more pranks.]]
* CareerEndingInjury: Thankfully, the boys all recovered.
** In 2006, Heechul was involved in a car accident while heading back to Seoul from Donghae's father's funeral. He fractured his left leg in five places, including his femur, knee, and ankle. Rods were attached to his leg. Due to this, Heechul couldn't participate in activities that would strain his legs, such as dancing. He considered leaving the group before ''Sorry, Sorry'' but ultimately decided to stay in the group. He does not appear in the ''Lo Siento'' music show promotions because his leg condition was getting worse.
** In 2007, after coming home from a Kiss the Radio broadcast, Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun and two managers were involved in a car accident. Shindong was the least injured out of the members, and managed to leave the accident with just cuts and bruises on his face and body. Eunhyuk was reported to have glass shards in his back, and was said to have stitches. Leeteuk also had glass shards on his back and had injuries on his face. Kyuhyun, however, had a broken foot, fractured hip, broken ribs, and facial scratches/bruises. The fractured hip was bleeding and his broken ribs have come down on his lungs. The doctor treating him said that in order to repair Kyuhyun's lungs, a hole would have to be pierced into his neck, thus ending his career as a singer. Fortunately, an alternative operation was found.
* CastFullOfPrettyBoys: A group full of pretty guys. A given since it's a common trope in KoreanPopMusic groups too.
* CatchPhrase: ''"urineun Super Junior '''e yo'''!"'' and its other languages variants ''"We are Super Juni'''or'''!"'', ''"wǒ men shì Super Juni'''or'''!"'', and ''"bokutachi wa Super Juni'''or desu'''!"''
** The sub-units place the emphasis on the last letter of the unit name (ex. ''"wǒ men shì Super Junior '''M'''!"'').
** The fans have their own too: ''"urineun ELF '''e yo'''!"''
** Ryeowook's ''"jashin isseo!!!"''[[note]]meaning "I have confidence!!!"[[/note]] became a catchphrase after [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IAEYvF6joU Siwon (with Leeteuk and Heechul)]] made fun of him on Radio Star. Ever since, he's been saying it in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0kJ9O0hmFk programs]] and [[https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/789227815405248513 interviews]], especially if its with regards to Siwon. Fans even shout for him at concerts with this sentence.
* CatsAreMean: Heechul's cat, Hanjayheebum (a {{Portmanteau}} of ''Han''kyung, ''[[Music/{{TRAX}} Jay]]'', ''Hee''chul, and Ki''bum'')-- or Heebum for short. Also, his original cat hated everyone but him.
* CelebrityResemblance:
** Leeteuk is called Super Junior's Yoo Jae Suk, not because Leeteuk resembles him in appearance, but in his hosting style.
** Shindong and Kang Hodong, to the point that ''Shin Hodong'' became his nickname.
** Siwon has admitted to being mistaken for Kangta. When Zhoumi debuted, he was mistaken for both Siwon and Kangta.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience:
** Based on personal preferences, Leeteuk is white, Heechul is red, Sungmin is pink, and Donghae is blue.
** During the "Gee" performance in Super Show 2, there was teal for Leeteuk, dark pink for Heechul, sky blue for Kangin, blue-green for Sungmin, peach for Eunhyuk, neon pink for Siwon, sapphire blue for Donghae, purple for Ryeowook, and olive green for Kyuhyun.
** For D&E promotions, Donghae is red while Eunhyuk is yellow.
* CoolBigBro:
** Leeteuk and Heechul towards the other members.
** Yesung and his little brother Jongjin get along very well. Jongjin also has defended Yesung on Twitter many times.
** Shindong even introduces his younger sister on a television program, just to let the world know that she exists and that he really loves her.
* CoolPet: Compared to the more normal pets such as cats and dogs which the other members own, Yesung has three pet turtles. He donated one of those three to the COEX Aquarium because it became so big that he couldn't keep it anymore.
* CoyGirlishFlirtPose: Sungmin is quite the expert on this when crossdressing.
* CuteBruiser: Sungmin is widely regarded as cute and doesn't look like he'd hurt a fly, but he also is a Tae Kwon Do black belt. He also said he applied to the Police Corps for his future mandatory military service.
* TheCutie: Sungmin and Donghae.
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: The members all agree on the best dancers Eunhyuk, Shindong, and Donghae (and Hankyung, before he left), while fourth place and below can be just anyone.
** Eunhyuk is recognized by all members to be the best dancer of the group and he always practices very hard to keep himself at the best. He also received a lot of solo-dance in their music videos (Twins, Sorry Sorry, Mr. Simple...) and he usually stands at the center position in their choreography.
** Shindong is the second best dancer of the group, and all the questions asking why he is in Super Junior are immediately quieted down when he is seen dancing.
** The third best dancer of the group, Donghae also has some solo-dance moments for himself in their music videos, usually with Eunhyuk.
* DeliberatelyCuteChild: Hosts often request the members to make one of this, like saying in a childish voice "Noona, I'm hungry".
* DiggingYourselfDeeper: Or digging each other's graves deeper, something that they do almost all of the time.
* DistaffCounterpart: Since Music/GirlsGeneration started out as Super Junior's girl version, the guys played with this at the Super Show 2:
** Taeyeon: Leeteuk (both are the leaders)
** Tiffany: Kangin (both talk the most in interviews)
** Jessica: Heechul (Heechul started this at Intimate Note)
** Sunny: Sungmin (Aegyo)
** Hyoyeon: Eunhyuk (the best dancers)
** Yoona: Donghae (the prettiest members)
** Yuri: Siwon (the prettiest members)
** Sooyoung: Kyuhyun (members with a sharp tongue)
** Seohyun: Ryeowook (she's the youngest and Ryeowook is nicknamed "The eternal maknae")
* TheDreaded:
** In Intimate Note, the others reveal Eunhyuk once expressed that Heechul's pants didn't go with the performance they were going to do. Manager's answer?
---> '''Manager''': If I make Heechul change, maybe we won’t see Eunhyuk anymore.
---> ''(Worth nothing that Heechul never changed clothes in the end)''
** The other members immediately get away when they fear Kangin will go after them when they mock him. In Intimate Note, when it was Kangin's turn to yell the things he disliked about them, Heechul and Eunhyuk's first reaction is to say "Pass him! Pass him!"
* DrunkDriver: Unfortunately, Kangin was not only was arrested for DUI once, but ''twice''. Due to this, he does not participate in the group’s 2017 comeback to reflect on his actions.
* DudeLooksLikeALady:
** Heechul has been mistaken for his friend [[Music/DongBangShinKi Dong Bang Shin Ki's]] Yunho's girlfriend before — which caused Yunho's real girlfriend to [[PoorCommunicationKills break up with him.]] It doesn't help that he has a [[WholesomeCrossdresser tendency to crossdress]].
** Heechul's friends once dared him to go to the girls' bathroom as they believed he wouldn't be recognized as a man. And he really wasn't. A woman even commented when she saw him: "Wow, you're such a tall girl!"
** When Donghae had [[http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-qpP3u49BH4/S7APLQwVp9I/AAAAAAAAAJQ/FVsNWu33tUY/S760/n501344353_418656_9325.jpg his hair long]], you could mistake him for a pretty girl. During the "Gee" performance in Super Show 2, Donghae was one of the two members (the other being [[ButterFace Eunhyuk]]) who didn't wear a wig.
* TheDutifulSon: The members find time to help out with their family businesses.
* EloquentInMyNativeTongue: Averted with Donghae, who can't even speak Korean well. The members take all opportunities to tease him about this.
** In an interview, Donghae says that it takes too long to record Japanese songs because Eunhyuk is poor at Japanese. Eunhyuk retorts by saying that Donghae's poor Korean skills are the reason why they take too long to record Korean songs.
** In a Chinese variety show, D&E have to match their answers to the question "What is Donghae's catchphrase?". Donghae answers "ayayayaya" while Eunhyuk answers "euieoeo". They explain that it's how Donghae talks.
** During a radio broadcast, Ryeowook says "Donghae cannot have long conversations. He has gotten better but if you keep making him talk, [[FragileFlower he will cry]]"
** In Super TV, he got almost all of the Chinese questions correct but sucked at the Korean language games.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Heechul has nicknamed Siwon "[[Disney/TheLionKing Simba]]", Donghae "Disney/{{Pinocchio}}", Kibum Disney/SnowWhite". He calls himself "Disney/{{Cinderella}}", but that's not embarrassing -- just Disney ThemeNaming. He's extended this to Eunhyuk and Shindong as well, labeling them "[[Disney/TheLionKing Timon and Pumbaa]]".
** Heechul named Zhoumi "Seasoning", because his name in Korean, "Jomyuk", sounds similar to a sauce. The Japanese version of his name, Choumi, also literally means "seasoning". Zhoumi isn't exactly pleased.
* EmbarrassingTattoo: Kangin's back tattoo reads [[GratuitousEnglish "Actions are more prection than words".]] Prection has since become a memetic mutation in the fandom.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Their fanboys are just as obsessed with them as their fangirls are.
* TheFace: Siwon, who is in the center position for most of the time. Heechul even says that Lee Sooman himself is in charge of the decisions made for Siwon’s looks in their comebacks.
* FakeOutMakeOut: Courtesy of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2xh4MnxeYA Kyuhyun and Sungmin]] when they demonstrated this in an interview.
* FamilyBusiness: So far, the members have been advertising small businesses opened by their relatives:
** MEIHUA DUMPLINGS is Hangeng's mom's business in Beijing.
** Yesung's family opened Handel & Gretel coffee shop first, which would be closed some time later to open the Mouse Rabbit coffee shop. The shop is run by Yesung and his brother as baristas. Also, Y Style belongs to Yesung's dad.
** Kona Beans Café is owned by Kyuhyun, Sungmin and Leeteuk's mothers.
** Eunhyuk's mom owns a branch of Tous Les Jours bakery.
** Siwon was a temporary partner (for three months) of Twosome Coffee. He also averts the trope; his father owns a minimarket chain, but Siwon opted to follow the entertainment business against his father's wishes. He eventually accepted Siwon's carreer.
** Kyuhyun's dad owns three Korean language schools in Taiwan. The schools are reported to have as many as 1,800 students.
** "Shindong's [=DraQra=] PC Castle", an internet Café. [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Guess who owns it.]] He also has an online shopping mall.
** [=Grill5=], a taco restaurant owned by Donghae's family, with Donghwa as manager. Before it came the brothers' cafe in Taiwan, The Grand Place.
* FamilyThemeNaming: Heechul and his older sister Heejin, Jongwoon/Jonghoon and his younger brother Jongjin, Sungmin and his younger brother Sungjin, Siwon and his younger sister Jiwon, and Donghae and his older brother Donghwa.
* {{Fanboy}}:
** Heechul likes [[Music/LadyGaga Lady Gaga]], [[Music/WonderGirls Sohee]], [[Music/{{Twice}} TWICE (especially Momo)]], and [[Music/{{AOA}} AOA]]. He is also a big [[Creator/{{DISNEY}} Disney]] fan, even giving the other members Disney-related nicknames.
** Eunhyuk for [[Music/MichaelJackson Michael Jackson]], considering that he took a lot of time to master Michael's dance like the MoonwalkDance, and is very good at dancing to Michael's songs. He likes Michael so much that when the group cosplayed Elsa, he just had to dress like a [[https://i.pinimg.com/736x/52/be/ee/52beee0c0cd369d25f5493247e3f358a.jpg Michael Jackson Elsa]].
* FanService: Why Super Junior is so [[YaoiFangirl popular]]. They're masters of various kinds of this such as GuyOnGuyIsHot.
* TheFashionista: Yesung and Zhoumi. The latter even considers shopping as a legit sport.
* FishOutOfWater: In a 2007 Sukira broadcast, Donghae talked about his experience when he first went to Seoul, and said that he was amazed by Seoul's buses which have many colors and numbers, unlike Mokpo's buses that are only blue and don't have much numbers.
* {{Flanderization}}: Heechul and Kyuhyun being {{jerkass}}es, Sungmin being a {{Kawaiiko}} who TastesLikeDiabetes, and Donghae being a {{cloudcuckoolander}} amongst other traits in fanfiction.
* FollowTheLeader: They are credited for starting most of the activities that idols do today, such as synchronized choreography and becoming variety show personalities.
** The first boy band of its size, the South Korean idol industry has since then taken to churning out similarly large groups and forming smaller sub-groups.
** They are also credited for the start of the ''knife-like choreography'', which meant that all members danced in sync.
** Super Junior is the first Korean group to debut a Chinese member, which sadly led to VISA problems and his eventual leave from the group. Super Junior M, on the other hand, is the first international music group in the Chinese music industry to have both Chinese and Korean members.
** Upon the release of Music/{{EXO}}'s ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3dezFzsNss Growl]]'', many netizens say that Super Junior-M copied the hit one-shot music video concept for ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5m3l65Lp0I Swing]]'' and Super Junior for ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utmykx9RUEw THIS IS LOVE]]'', but Super Junior had already released ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAcUbvm7uL0 It's You]]'', which was filmed with the same concept, three years before EXO came into existence.
** They are the first group to reach 100 world tour concerts.
** They are the first Korean group to hold a special lecture at Oxford University.
** They are the first Korean artists to be ranked in the Billboard Latin Chart with the release of their track "Lo Siento".
* FragileFlower: Donghae, the resident crybaby, to the point that "Donghae, are you crying?" and variations of this question are a staple in variety shows. His eyes start to water whenever he becomes the center of attention, he closes his eyes seeing his members arguing because he can't stand seeing the sight of it, and he cries while in the middle of an argument.
--> '''Kangin''' ''(during SJ's 10th anniversary)'': How did you become an entertainer if you're afraid when everyone is looking at you???
* FriendToAllChildren: Siwon loves children and loves taking pictures with them.
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: With thirteen (or fifteen) members, not all of the members of the group are super close to everyone else, which disappoints some fans but also entertains other fans because their interactions are fun to watch.
** Zhoumi and Henry are speculated to have this kind of relationship with members who aren't in Super Junior M, but they're actually close to everyone in the group.
** Shindong and Siwon are speculated to not feel comfortable with the members as they aren't seen hanging around with the others most of the time.
** The main subject of their guest appearance at the show Intimate Note, with Kangin/Sungmin and also Heechul/Eunhyuk being the main subjects.
** Shindong has confessed a lot of times that he hasn't and just can't imagine being alone together with Donghae.
** Yesung and Sungmin admit that they feel awkward around each other.
* FullNameBasis: With Chinese members Han Geng/Hankyung (given name Geng / Kyung) and Zhoumi (given name Mi).
* FunWithAcronyms:
** Super Junior K.R.Y. = Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung. Additional letters are added sometimes, like K.R.Y.S. (+ Sungmin), K.R.Y.E.D. (+ Eunhyuk and Donghae), and K.R.Y.D. (+ Donghae).
** Also, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything L.S.D.]] = unofficial trio of Leeteuk, Sungmin, and Donghae.
** There's also the fan nickname L.E.D. which is [[ThirdWheel Leeteuk]], Eunhyuk, and Donghae.
** The group that Eunhyuk was in during elementary school was named SRD (Sing, Rap, Dance).
** There's the fanclub too. '''E'''ver'''L'''asting '''F'''riends is more widely known as E.L.F.
* FunWithForeignLanguages:
** Aside from the [[GratuitousEnglish obvious Engrish abuse]] from their shows like 'Full House', Heechul also had fun teaching Hankyung many Korean swear words.
** Everyone apparently had fun teaching Henry ridiculous pick-up lines.
* FunnyForeigner: Originally [[TokenMinority Hankyung]], whose early humor in variety shows mostly came from his difficulty to speak Korean and how the others pranked him by taking advantage of this. Then [[CanadaEh Henry]] and [[StereotypesOfChinesePeople Zhou Mi]] and similar hilarity ensued. All are Chinese.
--> ''(during a talk show)''
--> '''Hankyung''': ''(to Heechul)'' Don't talk!
--> '''Heechul''': If I don't talk who will understand you?! Why do you think they sent me along?!
* GameShowAppearance: Used to happen quite often when game shows were more popular in Korea. Since then, {{Talk show}}s have become more popular.
* GratuitousEnglish:
** Taking in consideration that English is not their native language, there are notable "English Fails" moments. The most remembered example is [[EmbarrassingTattoo Kangin's tattoo]] "Actions are more ''prection'' than words".
** On their show 'Full House', which premise was Super Junior teaching two foreigners Korean, when in reality the two girls knew enough Korean already and were instead ''teaching them English''.
** Heechul's English vocabulary.
--> '''Everyone:''' You can't say these words: 'touch me, yo, man, and baby'.
--> '''Heechul:''' WHAT!? THAT'S 90% OF MY ENGLISH VOLCABULARY!
** Just [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM9X8luYtdA this]] whole video.
** Leeteuk’s [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsDq1kPsTOw English conversation]] with [[Music/TwoPM Nichkhun]] (which is funnier if you know that he actually had good marks in English when he was in school).
* HappilyMarried: As December 5th of 2014, Sungmin was the first member to get married and is happy with his new life with his wife, as far as others are concerned.
* HatesBeingAlone: Donghae.
* HatesBeingTouched: Averted. They are always all over each other.
* HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday: When called out about his sexuality on Strong Heart, Heechul began to rant about how he "really likes girls."
* HiddenDepths: Many of the members, despite being funny and weird idols, are more than meets the eye.
** Heechul wants to write children's books. %%Kyuhyun was mentioned but no info was given, please add more context for him.
** Donghae is good at magic tricks and could have been an athlete if not because of his father's dream in entertainment industry.
* HomoeroticSubtext: A lot within the group, making the fans question if it’s really for FanService or if it’s real.
* TheHost: Most of them are hosts for variety programs, but Leeteuk is notable for having the “host disease”. Even the [=MCs=] from the show he's invited to comment that Leeteuk should be permanent co-host.
** He also says that he even hosts at home, welcoming himself when he arrives or congratulating his pets. No one believes him, though.
** The other members note that he has a “broadcast tone” or way of speaking, and that he might have forgotten how to speak like himself.
* HotBlooded: A few members, for example Kangin is prone to death glares and Heechul will not react well if his food is touched.
* IdolSinger: Well, all of them are idols that sing.
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide: Sungmin, Zhoumi, and Ryeowook.
* IntellectualAnimal: How Heechul portrayed Heebum on his Cyworld, as well as him being a [[CatsAreSnarkers snarker]] - like cat, like owner.
%% * IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: Kibum, according to the fandom. Sometimes Kyuhyun as well.
* JackOfAllTrades:
** Sungmin. Not quite entering the ranks of the main vocalists or dancers (considered to be ranked fourth best for each, just after the members who have these skills as their specialty), but he has an innate talent to pick things up far quicker than others on variety shows (ranging from bubble-blowing, to flairtending, to magic tricks... the list goes on).
** Donghae says that if he's asked what he is good at, he will say everything. It's true: he is one of the main dancers, has a lot of vocal parts though he isn't a main vocalist (especially during the 2017 comeback, with the absence of two out of three main vocalists), and he also raps well (prominent in the D&E releases). He writes songs (two songs almost became title tracks for Super Junior) and is also a great actor. And he can also do magic tricks.
* KoreanDrama: Several of them have played roles in different dramas. Most popular perhaps is ''Rainbow Romance'', which featured six of the boys in its last season (although only Kibum and Heechul were members of the main cast).
* KoreanHonorifics: Besides everyone calling Leeteuk and Heechul ''hyung'' (older brother), the ways of addressing each other within the group are different for each of the members.
** Hankyung is on FirstNameBasis with Leeteuk and Heechul (both 1983) and Yesung (1984), but Yesung sometimes calls him ''hyung''. Kangin is on FirstNameBasis with Yesung (1984) but calls Hankyung ''hyung''.
** Shindong (1985) and Sungmin (1986) are on FirstNameBasis, which they comment upon in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NVH2SNT6II "Swing" VCR]].
** The '86 liners Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Zhoumi, and Donghae are the ones who changed ways of addressing among themselves. Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Siwon all call Sungmin ''hyung'', but Sungmin and Zhoumi were on FirstNameBasis until Zhoumi noticed that Siwon calls Sungmin ''hyung''. Donghae used to call Eunhyuk ''hyung'' but switched to FirstNameBasis. Siwon has two birthdays: his registered 1987 and the real 1986, so Ryeowook and Kibum (both 1987) should call him ''hyung''.
** Henry (1989) has no choice but to call the others ''hyung'' since he's the youngest.
** Heechul's nickname "Heenim" is derived from "Hee" and the Korean honorific "-nim" which denotes giving respect. Kangin uses the same honorific in his Instagram username (@kanginnim) and Eunhyuk uses it for the moon (Dalnim).
* TheLeader:
** Leeteuk is the leader of Super Junior, Super Junior T, and Super Junior H.
** Upon Leeteuk’s enlistment, the group doesn’t appoint a different leader, but Yesung temporarily replaces him as the eldest and Eunhyuk helps out as vice leader.
** Sungmin is the leader of Super Junior M.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Zhoumi and [[Music/{{Fx}} Victoria]] were cast as leads for a Taiwanese drama. For the kiss scene, they couldn't help laughing awkwardly, and said they were like siblings.
* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: For a boy band. Once the largest boy band in the world, and largely responsible for the trend of larger pop groups in Korea.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy:
** Heechul in their [[http://img1.ak.crunchyroll.com/i/spire4/29d3743b5e12ecf2f2a53267d613f5791307091800_large.jpg early]] [[http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/26200000/Heenim-past-and-present-looks-kim-heechul-26270336-355-308.jpg debut]] [[http://37.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lycasxbimG1qhwguzo1_400.jpg days]] and for ''[[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nkwZ225bGwE/T-SVoB93-JI/AAAAAAAACN4/rQeiNhHazLs/s1600/431251_318652521517138_186241571424901_874343_1526426389_n.jpg U]]'', ''[[https://sistamelody.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/individualshot02.jpg Sorry, Sorry]]'', and for ''[[https://i.imgur.com/usYmJBv.jpg Lo]] [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/suju/images/2/23/Heechul_%28Replay%29.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20180405012807 Siento]]''.
** Donghae used to have [[https://a.disquscdn.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/3001/8749/original.jpg long hair pre-debut]] and in the [[https://i.pinimg.com/736x/61/f8/f1/61f8f17661259d74ce4718cea3539407.jpg first album.]] In Super Show 2 and the teasers for “Sexy, Free, and Single”, he had [[http://images2.fanpop.com/image/polls/457000/457656_1275570060570_full.jpg?v=1275570542 long]] [[http://78.media.tumblr.com/c06cb4efce804aaf2232321866f1c522/tumblr_niltzu0aZz1tj2qwio5_1280.jpg brown]] [[http://78.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz1as04kZC1r3tsn3.gif hair]].
* ManChild: Donghae may look muscular and handsome, but he is really childish. He likes to do things like messing with the lift buttons in elevators, or waking up other members to play with him when he can't sleep. Combine with the fact that he cries a lot, Donghae gained himself a FanNickname: 5-year-old Donghae.
** One of his nicknames is "fake maknae", and even though Donghae is caring towards the younger members, Kyuhyun said that when he's with Donghae, he feels like Donghae is the younger one. Donghae eventually becomes the youngest member of the group during the 2017 comeback.
* MeaningfulName:
** Leeteuk means "[[IJustWantToBeSpecial special]]" (Korean: ''이'' 세상에서 ''특''별한 사람이 되리). The Chinese characters for Leeteuk mean "special advantage".
** "Chul" means "iron" in English, but the Chinese characters for Heechul mean "a pure wish".
** Geng means "star".
** Yesung means "art of voice" (Korean: ''예''술가의''성''대). And also [[MemeticMutation "ye-]][[GratuitousEnglish sex"]] ("sung" is the Korean word for gender). His real name Jongwoon could be interpreted to mean "constant sky".
** Kangin means "[[IJustWantToBeBadAss strong man]]" in Korean, and the Chinese equivalent means "strong but kind". His real name Youngwoon could be interpreted to mean "eternal sky".
** Shindong means [[ChildProdigy child prodigy]], derived from his last name and the first syllable of his name (''Shin Dong''hee). The "Hee" in his name corresponds to "prosperous" or "bright".
** The Chinese characters for Sungmin mean "bright" and "agile". He chose the name "Liu" because it means "to help/support" in Chinese, bringing the meaning of helping each other (himself and fans).
** Eunhyuk literally means 'radiant silver'. He uses silver in his Twitter username ([[https://twitter.com/allrisesilver @AllRiseSilver]]). His real name Hyukjae means "brilliant governance".
*** The English name he uses for WHY NOT the Dancer, "Jerry", seems to come from his and Yesung's WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry dynamic, but it comes from the Western order equivalent of his name: Hyuk''jae Lee'' -> ''Jaelee'' -> ''Jerry''.
** The Chinese characters for Siwon mean "beginning" and "origin".
** Mi in Chinese means "to seek for".
** Donghae is literally the "East Sea" in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.
** Ryeowook could be interpreted as "noble as the morning sun".
** Kibum's name brings the meaning "to rise up to become a model for others."
** The Chinese characters for Kyuhyun mean "pure" and "benevolent".
* MrFanservice: All of them are prone to being touchy-feely with each other to shirtless moments.
* MultiethnicName: Henry Lau.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Some of the members have very defined abs and arm muscles which got many fans drooling. The most famous members in this department are Leeteuk, Siwon, Eunhyuk and Donghae.
* {{Narcissist}}:
** Heechul. Even his on-screen wife (who had limited Korean vocabulary) calls him out on it.
** The other members say that Donghae has the "prince syndrome". Eunhyuk even mentions that Donghae once hung a large portrait of himself in the dormitory.
* NiceGuy: According to the members, Eunhyuk has a great temper, always try to keep calm and be nice to other people even if they are being unpleasant.
* TheNicknamer: Heechul.
* NoPronunciationGuide:
** Siwon's last name "Choi" isn't read as "choi" but rather as "choe" (chwe).
** Henry's last name "Lau" is only read as "Lau" in Cantonese: it's usually spelled as "Liu" in Mandarin and is read as "Lyu/Ryu". His name Henry can also be pronounced as "Anri" in French.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace:
** A majority of the members, but the one who gets called out for it is Yesung who sneaks into the others' bedrooms at night and touches their philtrums because he likes the feel of it.
** Siwon. He likes exchanging hugs and kisses with the other members so much that he has been hit for it.
* NotAMorningPerson:
** Leeteuk. Despite being leader, the others mention him as the [[HeavySleeper last and hardest to wake up]].
** Kangin as well. In one of their early shows, the members had to work together to wake him up by pulling duct tape off of him and spraying water on him.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Kibum is quiet, calm, collected — and yet is perfectly happy to make a fool out of himself or his bandmates on TV.
%% * OddCouple: Leeteuk and Kangin.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Most of the boys haven't physically aged since their debut in 2005. Especially Leeteuk and Heechul who were born in 1983.
** Donghae is also referred to as the "fake youngest" because with his looks and personality, he seems like the youngest member of the group.
* OneSteveLimit:
** The reason Shindong debuted with a stage name is because his birth name "Donghee" sounds similar to "Donghae".
** Yesung and Kangin (who both use stage names) are Jongwoon and Youngwoon, respectively.
** Not within the group but within the company: Kibum and [[Music/SHINee SHINee’s]] Key have the same name.
* OnlyOneName: All of the members promote using their first names or stage names.
* {{Otaku}}: Heechul, [[UpToEleven big time]].
* PetTheDog: Heechul enjoyed making fun of Chinese member Hankyung for his own enjoyment, yet when Hankyung was insulted with racist remarks by people outside of their dorms, Heechul and several of the others went out to beat the guys up.
* PickyEater: Shindong, surprisingly, considering his size and appetite. He doesn’t like sweets, pizza, and noodles.
* PowerTrio:
** Super Junior K.R.Y.: the main vocalists.
** Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Donghae: the main dancers.
** Leeteuk, Heechul, and Kangin: the variety show masters.
** Leeteuk, Shindong, and Eunhyuk: the Strong Heart team.
** Eunhyuk, Siwon, and Donghae: The three same-age friends who even acknowledge their PortmanteauCoupleName "[=EunSiHae=]".
** Ryeowook, Kibum, and Kyuhyun / Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Henry: the maknaes.
* PrecisionFStrike:
** While in the middle of a mob of Chinese fans at an airport, Donghae let out a frustrated "Move, fuck!" and was immediately attacked for it.
** An incident in December 2011 during which SM Entertainment's mistreatment of them affected their fans as well pushed some of the boys too far, leading to a series of outbursts on Twitter--including the religious, gentlemanly Siwon.
** A minor one: Henry's appearance on Weekly Idol started with a game they like to play where they cut and mixed up sections of his song "1-4-3" to see if he would still be able to dance to it smoothly. He didn't the first two times which led to him getting a powerful flick to the forehead and a (rubber) hammer to his head. The third time, he almost had it but then he paused and said "SHOOOOOOOOOT!" He was then treated to something called Seoul Sightseeing. [[DontExplainTheJoke It had nothing to do with sightseeing.]]
* PrinceCharming:
** How Siwon, a rich pretty-boy actor-singer-model with impeccable manners, is perceived.
--> '''Fan''': I love you my Prince Charming, Siwon oppa~
--> '''Kyuhyun''': He's [[RealMenLoveJesus "pastor"]], not "prince charming".
** Sora called Leeteuk her “prince” because he called her “baby princess”.
* PutOnABus:
** Kibum started his indefinite hiatus in 2009 in pursuit of an acting career. He every once in a while has to remind fans that he hasn't leave the group.
** Kangin after his BarBrawl and [[DrunkDriver DUI hit and run]]. He later joined the South Korean military for his two years of mandatory service instead of returning to the group.
** The members who enter military service are subject to this: Kangin in 2010-2012, Leeteuk and Heechul in 2012-2014, Yesung in 2013-2015. In 2015-2017, five members went to the army: Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Siwon, which resulted in the group's almost two-year hiatus and the members' focus on individual activities.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: One of the main attributes of Super Junior, unlike other boybands, is how unique and different from each other are every single one of them. There's the MrFanservice Siwon, the flamboyant Heechul, the BigFun Shindong, TheCutie Ryeowook, the BadassAdorable Sungmin, the BrainyBrunette Kyuhyun, TeamMom Leeteuk, LovableJock Kangin, ButtMonkey Eunhyuk, the {{Adorkable}} Donghae, the TokenMinority Chinese member Hangeng, the [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} strange yet talented]] Yesung and TheQuietOne Kibum. It has been said also that the group was made of all the trainees who didn't seem to fit in other groups for not meeting "specific characteristics", and even the agency didn't expect for Super Junior 05' to gather a good fanbase.
* RealMenLoveJesus: Siwon, whose faith extends to his tweets, and his pastoral group even comes to Super Junior’s concerts. Eunhyuk goes to church with his family and helps there. Kyuhyun has mentioned listening to sermons in his free time.
* RealMenWearPink: Heechul, Sungmin, and Zhoumi especially love wearing pink, but all have done so at some point. Sungmin even started to reconsider changing his wardrobe when he realized there was too many pink items there.
* RedBaron: Hankyung is called the "1.3 Billion Miracle".
* RenaissanceMan:
** Sungmin is not only considered a great singer and dancer in a group with several members that specialize in those fields, he's an actor, MC, and a musical star. He's fluent in Japanese (even starring in Japanese musicals, which is a first for any Korean pop star), plays several instruments including the guitar and the bass guitar, and is a martial arts expert. He's also in three out of five subgroups.
** Henry can play violin, dance, both at the same time, sing, play guitar and piano, speak English, Korean and Mandarin.
* RummageSaleReject: Pretty much everybody in the fifth album concept photos had weird mismatching outfits, with [[https://kpop007love.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/leeteuk-2.jpg Leeteuk]] being one of the worst with his two red and blue coats and colourful... rope {{Sarashi}}.
* ShesGotLegs: Gender-inverted.
** Zhou Mi. They're very skinny, and VERY long, and hit outfits often show this off.
** Eunhyuk has [[http://68.media.tumblr.com/30983a9a28b057672be7740548539784/tumblr_inline_mldhocnnUK1qz4rgp.jpg long, thin legs]], which are emphasized even more when he [[https://i.pinimg.com/736x/54/33/5b/54335b2347aadca278b11e32936a19c3--eunhyuk-concert.jpg dances.]]
** Sungmin and Kyuhyun may also count; fans tend to pay special attention to their 'honey thighs'.
** Heechul's attractive lady legs as Lady Hee Hee. Enough said.
%% ** There's Leeteuk in Single Ladies.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Played straight by the Eunhyuk/Donghae and Yesung/Ryeowook pairs when the boys wrote, directed, and starred in their own mini-drama about being YaoiGuys with a TwistEnding.
* SixthRanger:
** How Henry and Zhoumi are perceived, since they aren’t ''officially'' included in the Super Junior lineup but still appear in concerts.
** How Leslie Grace is perceived when ''REPLAY'' came out.
* SmellyFeet: The members tend to make fun of Eunhyuk on variety shows and the most frequent topic are his feet or his porn stash.
* SmokingIsCool: How some fans see some of the members' smoking habits. Others are dismayed because of the potential vocal damage.
** Heechul eventually stopped because of the effects it had on his gums and actively encourages others to do so as well.
* SoloSideProject:
** Yesung, Zhoumi, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, and Henry also promote as solo artists in the Korean music industry. Donghae participates in [=OSTs=]. Heechul is part of project groups "M&D" with Jungmo of [[Music/{{TRAX}} TRAX]] and "Universe Cowards" (Korean: 우주겁쟁이) with Min Kyunghoon of Buzz.
** Eunhyuk is one of the members of Younique Unit. D&E are part of SM The Performance. Yesung, Zhoumi, and Kyuhyun are members of SM the Ballad.
** Leeteuk is one of the nation's most popular [=MCs=] and has been dubbed as the next Yoo Jae Suk. Heechul has four programs being broadcast at the same time in 2018. Kyuhyun is well-known for being one of the [=MCs=] of Radio Star. Kangin and Shindong are also popular [=MCs=], with the latter known as Kang Hodong's descendant. Zhoumi is an MC in Chinese programs.
** Heechul, Kangin, Siwon, and Kibum started out as actors before becoming part of Super Junior. Yesung, Zhoumi, Donghae, and Henry have ventured into the acting field as well. In addition, Heechul, Yesung, Kangin, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun have participated in musicals.
** Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Henry are well-known variety show personalities in Korea.
** Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Yesung, Sungmin, and Ryeowook were all radio [=DJs=] for Super Junior's Kiss the Radio, and all of the other members have hosted or guested at least once. Heechul had Young Street Radio, Shindong had Shim Shim Ta Pa, Kangin had Reckless Radio and Good Friend Radio, and Zhoumi had Idols' True Colors C-Radio.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The spellings used in their albums and concerts are the most widely-used: Leeteuk, Heechul, Hankyung, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Zhoumi, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kibum, Kyuhyun, and Henry.
** Due to the differences in alphabet, their names are different in other countries:
*** China: Lite/Zhengzhu, Xiche, Geng, Yisheng/Zhongyun, Qiangren/Yongyun, Shengtong/Dongxi, Shengmin, Yinhe/Hezai, Shiyuan, Mi, Donghai, Lixu, Qifan, Guixian, and Hengli.
*** Japan: Itoku/Jonsu, Hichoru, Hangyon, Ieson/Jonun, Kanin/Yonun, Shindon/Donhi, Sonmin, Unyoku/Hyokuche, Siuon, Joumi, Donhe, Ryouku, Kibomu, Kyuhyon, and Henri.
** Leeteuk can be spelled as Eeteuk, Iteuk, and Riteuk, and Jeongsu can be spelled as Jungsu, Jeongsoo, and Jungsoo.
** Heechul can be romanized as Huicheol/Hwicheol.
** Hankyung/Hangeng can be spelled as Hangyung/Hankeng in Korean.
** There's Yesung/Yehsung/Yeseong/Yehseong and Yesex/Yessex. His real name Jongwoon could be spelled Jongun in English, which causes an overlap with another famous [[UsefulNotes/TheRulersOfNorthKorea Kim Jongun]].
** Kangin/Gangin. His name Youngwoon can be spelled Youngun/Yeongwoon/Yeongun.
** Shin vs. Sin and Donghui vs. Donghee. Shindong mentions that it could be spelled as “Sin Donghoe”.
** Sungmin/Seongmin.
** Eunhyuk/Eunhyeok. Similar case with his real name Hyukjae/Hyeokjae.
** Shiwon/Siwon. His last name Choi can be spelled as Choe.
** Zhoumi’s name tends to be spelled as Jomi since it’s the Korean equivalent.
** Ryeowook/Ryeouk/Ryouk.
** Kibum/Gibum, though the former is most commonly used.
** Kyuhyun/Gyuhyun/Kyuhyeon/Gyuhyeon. He spells his name as Kyuhyun, but his Twitter username uses Gyu ([[https://twitter.com/gaemgyu @GaemGyu]]).
* SpotlightStealingSquad: Main vocalists Yesung-Ryeowook-Kyuhyun for singing, main dancers Shindong-Eunhyuk-Donghae for dancing, well-known personalities Leeteuk-Heechul-Kangin for variety shows, and visuals Siwon-Donghae.
* StageNames:
** Leeteuk's real name is Park Jungsoo. He wanted a stage name since he wanted a name with impact like Kangta (strong hit). Park Jungsoo is also the name of a veteran Korean actress.
** Yesung's real name is Kim Jongwoon, while Kangin's real name is Kim Youngwoon. Their real names sound similar.
** Shindong’s real name is Shin Donghee, and it resulted from preventing confusion between him and Donghae.
** Eunhyuk's real name is Lee Hyukjae, which is also the name of a Korean comedian.
* StalkerWithACrush: Their fanclub's prone to following the members in ways that are beyond creepy.
* StepfordSmiler:
** Leeteuk (one of the more cheerful, upbeat and talkative members) is an extreme case of Type A. When asked about his life with his parents as a child, Leeteuk revealed while crying that not only was their relationship bad, but they abused him often to the point where he began hating and being afraid of his own father -- yet for the most part, he continues to smile. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AeU7q8tFrI It's very sad and eerie to watch.]] He also used to run a club for depressed idols, to back this up a little.
** All of Super Junior and even most idols could be considered a watered down case of this too. Depression is very common within the Kpop scene, although Leeteuk does seem to be a very worrying example of it being a reality.
* SupportingLeader: Leeteuk may not be the face of the band or the best singer or dancer, but he is the one in charge of supporting and guiding the other members.
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish:
** Kibum lived in California ever since he was 10 years old.
** Siwon is said to be the one who speaks English the best. He's the one who delivered the English acceptance speech at the MAMA awards, after Leeteuk gave his speech in Korean. He's also the one who talks for the SM's international casting call videos when Henry is not there.
* SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage: The Super Junior M members.
** Sungmin learned Japanese in high school and developed an interest in it, so he continued studying.
** Donghae, Siwon, and Kyuhyun improved their Chinese despite only living in Taiwan for three months.
** Zhoumi is good at speaking Korean despite the noticeable accent.
** In Radio Star, Kyuhyun claims to understand Thai, but actually only knows words that he used for his commercial.
** Henry’s native language is English, he is also fluent in Mandarin and Korean. In addition, he can also speak Cantonese, Taiwanese Hokkien, a little Japanese and Thai, and basic French, which he learned while in Canada.
* SweetTooth: Leeteuk, Sungmin, and Siwon.
%% * TalkativeLoon: Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Kangin. Actually, most of them.
* TeamDad: Kangin. Just in name, as he is often seen next to TeamMom Leeteuk. He actually behaves more like the BigBrotherBully instead. To his credit, he does try to be this to his bandmates whenever they get in variety shows.
* TeamMom: Leeteuk, to the point where the fics have the others referring to him as "''umma''", which means "Mother". It was played with in The Super Junior Show, where he had to make sure everyone went to bed. For one of the visits, he covered Eunhyuk and Sungmin in the blankets and kissed their foreheads. It didn't get better when he had to wake up every single one of them.
** Ryeowook. When Leeteuk is not around, he is the first one to see if his members are fine. Also he was the one who took care of all the house chores while they still lived together at the apartment. The other members also say that Ryeowook cooks food for them whenever they come home tired from their schedules, even though he himself is tired.
* TenderTears:
** Donghae is quite sensitive and cries very easily. He even admitted this himself. His tendency to cry has been talked about in variety shows a lot of times, and the other members have fun with it by imitating him. In his appearance in Weekly Idol, he cries upon introducing himself, and a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN1ezrS1Ufk crying game]] was done for him, where it was shown that the other members can’t cry as easily as him.
** As the member who got the most training in acting, Kibum is very capable of crying on cue, which is shown in EHB (during the tears episode) as he could shed tears for the camera in a few minutes.
** In the 2017 comeback, the members say that Yesung became like Donghae: being sensitive and crying in the middle of an argument.
* ThemeNaming: The Disney names, courtesy of Heechul:
** Leeteuk - [[Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast Belle]]
** Heechul - [[Disney/{{Cinderella}} Cinderella]]
** Hankyung - [[Disney/{{Mulan}} Mulan]]
** Yesung - [[Disney/{{Aladdin}} Aladdin]]
** Kangin - [[Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast Beast]]
** Shindong - [[Disney/TheLionKing Pumbaa]], [[Disney/WinnieThePooh Winnie the Pooh]]
** Sungmin - [[Disney/AliceInWonderland Alice]]
** Eunhyuk - [[Disney/TheLionKing Timon]], [[Disney/PeterPan Peter Pan]]
** Siwon - [[Disney/{{Cinderella}} Prince Charming]]
** Donghae [[Disney/{{Pinocchio}} Pinocchio]]
** Ryeowook - [[Disney/{{Aladdin}} Jasmine]]
** Kibum - [[Disney/SnowWhite Snow White]]
* TokenMinority: Before Zhoumi and Henry, Hankyung used to be the only Chinese member in the group.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Heechul in regards to Hankyung's Beijing Fried Rice, Sungmin with sweet pumpkins, Eunhyuk with strawberries and strawberry milk, and Siwon with Coca Cola.
* ThoseTwoGuys: A lot of the members do promotions or appear as duos, most notably Donghae and Eunhyuk who have their own sub-unit D&E and Zhoumi and Henry who are in Super Junior M. There's also Leeteuk and Heechul, the two eldest members of the group who are notable for not being on the same wavelength most of the time.
* TurtlePower: Yesung has three turtles, who are considered his kids.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Fans note that most of the fighting stories have a connection to Donghae:
** Heechul and Eunhyuk were featured in Intimate Note, and one of the incidents that made them awkward is when Eunhyuk never returned one of Heechul's shirts, and even wore it to sleep. It was later revealed that Donghae was the one who gave it to Eunhyuk: when Eunhyuk wanted to sleep over at the dorms and asked Donghae for a shirt he could wear to sleep, Donghae picked up a random shirt and tossed it to him, without knowing whose shirt it was.
** In an episode of Series/KnowingBrothers, Shindong says that there was a time where he really hated the members: it was when they would wear his clothes (which were big, like pajamas) to sleep. He states that Donghae did it the most, and that his 180,000 won shirt with his favorite character was worn by Donghae to bed.
** Leeteuk stole money from [[Music/DongBangShinKi Yunho's]] PiggyBank to buy food for the hungry Donghae and Eunhyuk. However, in Series/KnowingBrothers, Heechul reveals that he and Donghae contributed to Yunho's savings.
** Ryeowook brought strawberries into Donghae's room, hoping to share the strawberries together. Yesung was in the dorm as well, so Donghae called him over as well. Ryeowook then said "Why did you call him? You didn’t need to", and Yesung was really hurt by this comment.
** One of the fights that almost broke Super Junior as a team was when the members poured water over Leeteuk while he was asleep. Leeteuk, without knowing who poured water over him, directed his anger towards Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun, who were in the room at the time, and later on, Shindong and Yesung ended up fighting. Who started pouring water on Leeteuk? Donghae.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Heechul, Kangin, and sometimes Yesung, as they're prone to throwing insults at each other. Yesung usually ends up the butt-monkey though.
* VocalDissonance:
** Heechul looks very pretty, but his voice is one of the most, if not the most masculine voice in the group.
** Donghae has a deep voice that not only contrasted his "pretty" image in his early years, but also heavily contrasts his sensitive, childish and easily-crying personality.
* VolleyingInsults: Yesung and Kangin's letters to each other are full of these. All with love.
%% ** Heechul has proven ''very'' good at this.
* WackyMarriageProposal:
** Shindong proposed to his not-so-secret girlfriend in the ''Thanks To'' notes for their fourth album. In a number code, that was cracked by fans before it was cracked by any of the other members or his girlfriend. They eventually and unfortunately broke up later on, however.
** Leeteuk dragged his "wife" Kang Sora on-stage to propose at a concert, serenading her while handing her a rose then presenting the ring. Which turned out to be too big. [[ConcertKiss So he hugged her to make up for it]].
* WalkingShirtlessScene: During concerts, most of them courtesy of Siwon.
* WalkingTechbane: According to the others, every computer Donghae touches, it gets busted. He couldn’t even figure out how to play music from an MP3 player when they were helping Sora with her surprise for Leeteuk.
* WholesomeCrossdresser:
** Many of the boys have had their turns, although Heechul does it not only for performances and shows but to disguise himself while out on dates.
** Most spectacular example to date: Lady [=HeeHee=], from the boys' Super Show 3 concert series. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyX0KXP57mM Approved by Mother Monster herself.]]
** He mentions disliking crossdressing during Intimate Note, but the MC is quick to remind him that he himself was the one who enjoyed it the most.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Again, Heechul, Kangin, and Yesung, who are friends yet bicker with one another very much.

[[folder:Music Tropes]]
* BoastfulRap / IAmGreatSong:
** ''SUPERMAN'' is an epic-sounding song where the group compares itself to well, Superman, and the members [[BadassBoast boast about how popular and talented they are]].
** ''Charm of Life'' starts off with Eunhyuk boasting about doing a collaboration that only celebrities can do, and Heechul talks about enduring rumors for the past 13 years. Shindong mentions that both his stage name and real name is known by everyone.
* CallBack: Lyrics from ''Sorry, Sorry'' are often reused in their songs:
** Shindong sings "naega michyeo michyeo Baby" in ''No Other''.
** Eunhyuk sings "Shawty shawty" in ''Oppa, Oppa'' and dances to the ''Sorry, Sorry'''s signature move.
** Donghae sings "nuni busheo Shawty shawty" in the Korean version of ''MOTORCYCLE''.
** Leeteuk says that the English translation of ''Lo Siento'' is ''Sorry, Sorry'', despite ''lo siento'' just meaning "sorry".
** In ''Lo Siento'', Heechul's rap references ''MAMACITA''.
* CompletelyDifferentTitle: The English titles of the songs are usually this. For example, "차근차근" (literally "step by step") becomes ''Way for love'', "소원이 있나요" ("Do you have a wish?") becomes ''Sapphire Blue'', "사랑이 멎지 않게" ("So that love never stops") becomes ''Raining Spell for Love''.
* FootballFightSong: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCdYAYPjZ4M ''VICTORY KOREA'']] for the [[UsefulNotes/TheWorldCup 2010 FIFA World Cup]].
* GenreRoulette: The core group's six albums so far cover bubblegum pop, ballads of all sorts, contemporary R&B, electropop/synthpop, and an example of their label's own unique style, SMP, which mixes pop, rock and orchestral music. There's also a song on their sixth album that sounds a bit like the lovechild of trot and dubstep.
* GratuitousEnglish: They’re very notorious for using a lot of English in their songs.
** Because I/you naughty naughty...
** It used to be more prevalent in their raps, but seemed to be on the decline... until 6jib came along and gave gems like "I’m ready too, Bingo" which can be easily misheard as "I'm ready to bingo".
** From the same album, Rockstar has Donghae's line "Oh my God. It’s so hard."
** MAMACITA brings us Shindong's line "Close your lips, ''shut your tongue''".
** There's the awkward sentence "He is not a super man, he must be a mama boy" from Super Junior M's Super Girl.
** D&E's songs aren't exempt from this: they've got lines such as "We go hot some again some again" and "Just one thing that I seek you".
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: The line from D&E's song ''SKELETON'': "Baby I just wanna see you naked". It's not a surprise that it didn't receive a Korean version.
* GratuitousSpanish: The title of their 7th album is ''MAMACITA'', while the 8th repackaged album ''REPLAY'' features the title track ''Lo Siento'', featuring Leslie Grace and a lot of Spanish lyrics.
* LandslideElection: Their FIFA World Cup 2010 song: ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x443wl5TW4U VICTORY]] [[http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/poll/_/id/4244/world-cup-inspired-songs KOREA]]''. Even the official song didn't stand a chance.
* LighterAndSofter: ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnMoDDbEccE No Other]]'', released as the title song of the repackaged ''BONAMANA'' album, and ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMZ5nK5G71o MAGIC]]'', released as the title song of the repackaged ''Devil'' album, are bright and fun songs, different from the group's usual edgy and rather repetitive title songs.
* LoopedLyrics: They're popular for using this in their title songs: there's ''sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry''; ''Mr. simple simple''; ''bolkkamalkka, bonchemanche, bogobwado, bonamana''...
* MotorMouth: Most, if not all, members has the tendency to become this whenever they’re talking, but the rappers exhibit this in their songs, especially Eunhyuk.
* PrecisionFStrike: A mild version. Some of D&E's songs feature lyrics that use "hell" as an expression ("What the hell is this?" or "Hell yeah").
* SelfDeprecation
* SerenadeYourLover: In ''Charm of Life'', Shindong mentions that all of his businesses failed and that he couldn't buy a house for himself.
** Where lover = TV wife, with Leeteuk (a) calling his ''We Got Married'' partner Kang Sora up on stage during his "She" number in Super Show 4 for a "proposal", and (b) allegedly writing a love song for her in their sixth album.
** Meanwhile, lover = fandom in Super Junior classics ''Marry U'' and ''From U''.
* SignatureSong: There's no doubt that ''Sorry, Sorry'' paved the way not just for Super Junior, but for KoreanPopMusic in the international market.
** In Korea, besides ''Sorry, Sorry'', Super Junior's signature songs are ''Rokkugo'' and ''U''.
** In China, ''BONAMANA'' is more popular than ''Sorry, Sorry''.
* SingerNameDrop: Appears in some of the songs (such as ''Mr. Simple'' and ''SUPERMAN'').
** ''SUPERMAN'' has "dodaeche nugureul chatneun geoya? naega '''Shindong'''!" (Who the hell are you looking for? I am '''Shindong'''!)
** ''MAMACITA'' gives us the following with wordplay based on the members' [[MeaningfulName names]].
--> '''''kangin'''hage jikyeoon uriyo!'' - "We protected ourselves '''[[IJustWantToBeBadass strongly]]'''!"
--> '''''donghae''' yeoksi geureoke malhaeyo!'' - "'''Donghae''' says that, too!"
--> '''''i teuk'''byeolhameul da gajin uriyo!'' - "We all have this '''[[IJustWantToBeSpecial special]]''' trait!"
--> '''''siwon'''seure haegyeoreul bwannayo?'' - "Did you see a '''cool''' solution?"
** Eunhyuk wrote the rap part in ''Alright'' while incorporating the members' names.
--> sesangeun uribogo '''teuk'''ihada hae we don’t care hihi'''hi cheol'''eopsi gureodo all right ''(Leeteuk, Heechul)''
--> jeo nopeun san wi'''ye sung'''gongi boyeo '''kangin'''hage georeogaja ''(Yesung, Kangin)''
--> i eoduun bami jinagoseo nun bu'''sin dong'''i teumyeon ''(Shindong)''
--> jeongsangeseo goeseok! '''mini'''minimanimo '''Eunhyuk'''ineun badaro '''idonghae''' '''siwon'''hae ''(Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon)''
--> deo isang mon gida'''ryeo uk'''ageseo jeo meolli tteonaja'''gyu'''! ''(Ryeowook, Kyuhyun)''
** ''Oppa, Oppa'' starts with Donghae introducing himself in [[GratuitousEnglish English]], and in the middle part (music video version only):
--> When I say '''Donghae''' you say ''oppa''!
--> When I say '''Eunhyuk''' you say ''oppa''!
--> When I say '''suju''' you say ''oppa''!
* TranslatedCoverVersion: Most of their title songs (including the sub-units) have either Japanese versions or Chinese versions (or both).
* ThroughHisStomach: The main theme of Suju-H's ''Cooking? Cooking!''.
* TruckDriversGearChange: Happens often in their ballads, always involving KRY. Especially Yesung.

[[folder:Music Video Tropes]]
* AdaptationExpansion: The drama versions of the music videos expound the storyline present in the original music video.
* AnimatedMusicVideo: ''Super Duper''. D&E has ''Circus''.
* TheCameo:
** They made many appearances in other artists' videos. Kibum was in The Grace's ''My Everything'', Siwon was in Music/GirlsGeneration's ''Hoot'', and so on.
** Some D&E music videos feature the other members: Shindong and Sungmin appear in ''Oppa, Oppa'', Leeteuk appears in ''Saturday Night'', and Siwon appears in ''MOTORCYCLE''.
** On the other hand, some of their [=MVs=] had guests: Music/GirlsGeneration's Yoona was in ''U'' and ''Marry U'' predebut, Jessica was in ''Super Girl'', Music/GirlsGeneration's Sunny was in ''Cooking? Cooking!'' and {{Music/Fx}}'s Victoria was in Suju-M's ''U'' before f(x) made their debut.
* CelebrityResemblance: Killagramz and Nucksal appeared in ''Charm of Life'' for Shindong and Heechul, respectively.
* ConceptVideo: D&E's ''If You'' is a smartphone concept video
* ConcertKiss: So far, Heechul has kissed Jungmoo, Siwon and Sungmin during his "Crazy" cover in Super Show II.
** Sungmin gets every opportunity he has on TV to remind Heechul of this.
--> ''From Intimate Note'':
--> '''Sungmin:''' Heechul hyung. About that time when we kissed.
--> '''Heechul:''' You're bringing this up ''again''?!
--> '''Sungmin:''' I did it, right? Then why do you still hate me? LOL
--> '''Sungmin:''' In the end he said I did it better!!
--> '''Heechul:''' That already sounds weird!!
* CoolBike:
** Donghae in the ''Devil'' MV.
** Also featured in D&E's ''MOTORCYCLE''.
* DarkerAndEdgier:
** The MV for their song ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veEh0RYy9t4 Don't Don]]'' was essentially this, being edgier with bad-boy outfits and rockier music.
** The ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSOSxwEWFA4 BONAMANA]]'' MV was just a DarkerAndEdgier version of the ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6QA3m58DQw Sorry, Sorry]]'' MV.
** Like above, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvTaLTTanJc ''A-Cha'']] was a darker version of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6TwzSGYycM ''Mr. Simple''.]]
** The aesthetic difference between [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWIkiI_UmeE ''Sexy, Free & Single'']] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GpJHF0WyAE&feature=relmfu ''SPY'']] might not be noticeable at first, but consider the lyrical content and the bloody special effects in the latter.
** The differences between ''MAMACITA'' and ''Devil'' are also noticeable. While ''MAMACITA'' is a comedy western, goofy and upbeat, ''Devil'' is a thriller of the devil in disguise, more sleek and serious.
* GratuitousEnglish: SM Entertainment had to reupload the music video for ''Super Duper'' because the boys were ''[[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DY-UGjeVQAAPbqX.jpg comming hard]]''.
* HotterAndSexier: Comparing ''Lo Siento'' (and to a lesser extent, ''Devil'') to previous releases.
** D&E's ''Hot Babe'' features an animation of a woman's lower body (only wearing panties).
* LyricVideo: D&E's ''Can I Stay...''
* PerformanceVideo:
** ''One Love'' features the performance at Super Show.
** ''SUPERMAN'' includes video clips from the live performance.
** The official music video for ''Oppa, Oppa'' features D&E's performance during Super Show 4.
* PelvicThrust: Their choreography includes a lot of these, because the move became popular with their fans the first time they tried it.
* StopMotion: D&E's ''LOSE IT'' featured toy models of Donghae and Eunhyuk in their ''Oppa, Oppa'' outfits.
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: The articles shown in the ''MAMACITA'' music video.
* TookALevelInBadass: How they all appeared in the DarkerAndEdgier ''Don't Don'' MV, especially Kyuhyun who had just recovered from a major accident months prior.
* TheWildWest: Depicted in the ''MAMACITA'' music videos.

[[folder:Attack on the Pin Up Boys]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/200707251225091460.jpg]]

On Valentine's Day, someone tossed a bag of feces to a school [[{{Bishonen}} flower boy]] Sungmin. After this, on the 14th day of every month, the same attack happened at different high schools, victimizing [[LovableJock basketball player]] Hankyung and [[TheRockStar rock star]] Yesung. However, all boys experienced some sort of popularity after being attacked, leading to other boys wanting to be attacked as well. [[{{Nerd}} Kibum]] predicts that the next attack will hit his high school, [[MeaningfulName Neulparan High School]], and sets off to investigate the cause of the attacks. The problem is that Neulparan High School doesn't have just one, but three pretty boy candidates: Siwon, president of the student body; Heechul, president of the dance club; and Kangin, the captain of the Judo Team. Who will be attacked?

The first film produced by SM Pictures, '''Attack on the Pin-Up Boys''' (Korean: 꽃미남 연쇄 테러사건; literally ''Flower Boys' Series of Terror Events''), is a [[KoreanDrama South Korean]] [[HighSchoolAU high school]] mystery/comedy film released in 2007. The film stars every member of Super Junior, except Kyuhyun due to sustaining injuries from a car accident.

!!The show provides examples of:
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: Literally. Siwon and Ryeowook have telekinesis. Ryeowook is still learning, thought.
* AffectionateParody: Their movie "Attack on the Pin-Up Boys" was a parody of the [[IdolSinger idol culture]], obsessions with passing fads, and the life of a teenager set in a HighSchoolAU. The second half of the film dips into DeconstructiveParody territory though as it becomes more introspective than the first half.
* AttackBackfire:
** Turns out the attacks with shit bags made the targets even more popular than before, and that's the reason Siwon, Heechul and Kangin are trying to get attacked as well.
** [[spoiler: After Donghae discovers this and confronts Kibum, he expresses how annoying it turned when the attack backfired, so for the last attack, they make Donghae popular. Donghae later states being famous is annoying as well.]]
* AttentionWhore: Since they all are driven by ItsAllAboutMe motivation, Heechul is the one who exhibits this more than the others.
* TheCameo:
** Henry appears as one of Donghae and Kibum's classmates and as a background dancer for the music video.
** [[Music/GirlsGeneration Yuri]] appears as a ballerina.
** [[Music/SHINee Key]] appears as a background dancer for the music video.
** [[Music/{{EXO}} Suho]] is part of the Flower Boy Band.
* CelebrityParadox: ''Rokkugo'' is being played at a restaurant.
* ChickMagnet:
** Sungmin, Hangeng and Yesung had hordes of fangirls behind them all the time. The groups increased after their attacks.
** Heechul also has control over the ballet club, who let his dance crew practice at their space.
* TheCutie: First victim Sungmin, to the point where he's covered in St. Valentine's candy just opening his locker and a fangirl gives him a dolfie (And those dolls are EXPENSIVE).

%% * OnlySaneMan: Kibum.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Invoked by Kibum, who opens the movie with this exposition speech.
* RedHerring: [[spoiler: The viewer is led to believe Kibum is suspecting Donghae to be the culprit, since Donghae sneaked out of the detention day when Siwon was attacked.]]
* TheReveal: Subverted with The Panda. [[spoiler: The ending song reveals Leeteuk was the Panda. As a Trivia, Ryeowook was the one playing the Panda during the filming.]]

[[folder: Super Junior Mini Drama]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/46364.jpg]]
'''Super Junior Mini Drama''' is a variety game show hosted by Super Junior. The premise of the show was to let the members write, produce, and star in their own mini drama series. Before each drama episode is filmed, the members will play games to determine which of two teams, Prince Team or Pearl Blue Team, they will be part of. The winning team gets a bonus feature for their drama while the losing team gets a punishment/something embarrassing to add to their drama. Their performances are judged and rated online, and at the end of the series, whichever team gets the most points receives a vacation to Japan.

The show ran for five episodes, with six drama episodes produced based on three different themes:
* Horror
** 11:04 PM (Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Shindong, Yesung, Leeteuk, cameo by Siwon)
** The School Gang (Eunhyuk, Donghae, Kangin, Ryeowook, cameo by Kibum)
* Dangerous Friendship
** Roommate (Shindong, Yesung, Sungmin, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, cameo by Kibum)

[[folder:Explorers of the Human Body]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/explorersofthehumanbodydownload.jpg]]

'''Explorers of the Human Body''' (Korean: 인체탐험대) is a show that ran from 2007-2008, aiming to answer curious questions about the human body, where the Super Junior members perform the answers by doing experiments with their own bodies. Shin Dongyup was chosen to be the lead MC, with the Super Junior members being regulars and co-[=MCs=] of the program. It is also the first and currently the only variety show that included every member of Super Junior as regulars. The show succeeded in attracting a wide audience due to its comedic and educational content.

!!The show provides examples of:

* CandidCameraPrank: An episode centered around tears required to collect “sadness tears” and compare its salt levels against “induced tears”. To collect them from Eunhyuk and Ryeowook (regarded by the others as the most sensitive from the group), they staged a fake situation where Shindong pretended to leave the group and Kangin sparks a big feud with the possibility of the group disbanding. What sealed the deal was Kyuhyun (who didn't know that it was a hidden camera) expressing his insecurities after his car accident. Right after it’s revealed that it was all a set up for the show, they keep collecting the tears with the vials while Eunhyuk kept crying in relief.
* TheHost: Shin Dongyup hosted every episode, with one of the members being his co-MC.
* HotSauceDrinking: When [[Music/DongBangShinKi TVXQ]] is introduced to the show, Super Junior members try to feed them the peppers from the first episode as “welcoming ritual”. Jaejoong is the only one unfazed by the Habanero and the Jolokia, even thinking about cooking with them at home. Changmin also took one with a very lowkey reaction.
* KissOfLife: Episode 12 was about “Breathing Underwater”, with one team beng assigned mouth-to-mouth. After a lot of awkward tries, Eunhyuk and Sungmin succeed because of the trust they had on each other (even Eunhyuk only accepted the air from Sungmin, completely neglecting Kangin)
* SpecialGuest: Episodes 9 and 10 feature [[Music/DongBangShinKi TVXQ]] competing in different athletic challenges.
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: The first episode involved tasting different peppers, including Korean Chunhyang Pepper, Thai Prik ki nu Pepper, Mexican Habanero Pepper, and Indian Bhut Jolokia Pepperm all of them considered the spiciest in the world, leaving most of them with numb mouths and crying.

[[folder:SJ Returns & Super TV]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2018053010305713570_540x764.jpg]]
After Eunhyuk's discharge from the army, the group filmed '''SJ Returns''', a reality show showcasing their comeback story for their 8th album, which was to be released in 2017. Despite having nine members, the group only filmed and promoted the album with seven members as Kangin was on hiatus after another [[DrunkDriver drunk-driving incident]] and Sungmin decided to withdraw from promotions (despite appearing in a short clip). Siwon was later [[PutOnABus removed]] from promotions as the co-CEO of Hanilkwan died due to contracting sepsis after getting bitten by his family dog.

The popularity of "SJ Returns" spawned a TV show titled '''Super TV''', a new concept variety show in which different existing entertainment formats are re-created and twisted in Super Junior's own way. The show featured the six remaining members, with Siwon joining them for the show's second season. The first season included formats such as ''[[BigEater mukbang]]'', [[GameShow quiz show]], [[{{Parody}} movie parody]], documentary, talk shows, online broadcasts, sports festivals, and others.

The second season of Super TV introduces the concept of '''Game of Thrones''' (Korean: 왕좌의 게임), where other idols challenge Super Junior for the title of "Kings of Variety Show Idols".

!!The show provides examples of:

* AffectionateParody: Super TV is that of variety shows in general, featuring parodies of Korean variety shows such as "We Got Married" and "Problematic Men".
** Two episodes are dedicated to a Film/BeforeSunrise format.
* AnimalMotifs: The members joke that Siwon should join a horse-racing show to promote their comeback album, but as a competitor, with Heechul on his back.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Donghae likes clinging around the older members.
* AscendedExtra: In the "Problematic Men" episode that centers around Yesung and Eunhyuk, Donghae, who appears with Yesung in the torch-bearing for the Pyeongchang Olympics, also visits Eunhyuk's house after the event.
--> '''Leeteuk:''' ''(at the end of the episode)'' Okay. The verdict is... Donghae is the most problematic guy!
* AttentionWhore: Leeteuk.
* BigEater: Even Eunhyuk and Shindong express their disbelief at the amount of food they needed to finish during "Escape the Restaurant" episodes.
* TheBigGuy: Shindong even jokes about his weight during the dubbing theater game.
--> '''Shindong''': ''Why is this so heavy? Oh, it's hot! Why is this so heavy?''
--> '''Eunhyuk''': The chair that you're sitting on.
--> '''Shindong''': Correct!
* ButtMonkey: Though everyone gets his moments, Yesung is picked on the most. Especially in the first episode of Season 2, where Music/{{AOA}} members choose to compete versus him because he seems the easiest to defeat.
* CallBack: Donghae mentions that he's reading "Romeo and Juliet" during the photoshoot for ''One More Chance''. Months later, during a quiz show where their only hint is "Romeo and Juliet":
--> '''Eunhyuk:''' It's out of the blue, but could the answer be Lee Donghae? Maybe it's "who is the person who's read Romeo and Juliet for three years already?"
* TheCameo: Most of the [=SMTown=] artists appear in the background during their family concert in Tokyo and Dubai, with a few of them getting interviewed by the members (Music/DongBangShinKi, Music/{{EXO}}, [[Music/{{TRAX}} Jungmo]], [[Music/RedVelvet Seulgi]], and a greeting from the members of Music/{{NCT}}).
** One of the important variety skills is labeled as the [[Series/KnowingBrothers Kim Youngchul]] [[ButtMonkey role]].
* CannotTalkToWomen: Donghae runs away after Cosmic Girls's arrival in the Spring Sports Day episode.
* CastFullOfPrettyBoys
* CelebrityResemblance: Samy mentions that Shindong looks like the Egyptian singer Hamid Al Shairi.
* CheatersNeverProsper: Donghae, after sabotaging the older member's attempts to "escape the restaurant", eventually ends up getting the punishment.
* ClusterBleepBomb: Usually when someone starts swearing, the other members follow, causing this.
* CoolBigBro: Yesung's younger brother Jongjin appears in one of the episodes, supporting his brother during his torch relay and brand event.
* TheCutie: Donghae.
* ADayInTheLimelight:
** Episode 8's highlight is Leeteuk and Heechul's visit to the counselor.
** Yesung and Eunhyuk (and [[AscendedExtra Donghae]]) in episode 10.
** Yesung in Sesaon 2 Episode 1, where he competes for three (consecutively) out of six games.
* DrunkDriver: In the opening for SJ Returns, a telephone pole is broken and "[[PutOnABus Kangin...]]" is written above it, referencing Kangin's DUI.
* TheFashionista: Eunhyuk likes poking fun at Yesung's tendency to be ''too'' well-dressed.
--> ''[[RunningGag "Hyung, aren't you wearing too much accessories?"]]''
* FishOutOfWater: Donghae, like mentioned above. Which becomes funnier during the episode where he gets out of ice water, flopping like a fish, and the caption reads "fish out of water".
* ForeignCussWord: Heechul's [[GratuitousSpanish "cachondo"]] (Spanish for "horny").
* FortuneTeller: Eunhyuk meets up with one for his live broadcast, and is engrossed with the fortune-telling that he forgets his own fans.
* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: The main focus of the "We Live Together" episodes: Leeteuk and Heechul, Yesung and Eunhyuk, Shindong and Donghae are forced to spend two days and one night together.
* FunWithForeignLanguages: The quiz show episodes feature Super Junior versus a group of foreigners, where the quiz is designed to test their abilities in Korean and in deciphering foreign languages.
* FunnyForeigner: Instead of the foreigners being the funny ones, the Super Junior members are actually the funny ones, trying to understand other languages with their own ways of thinking.
* GoshDangItToHeck: During the go-stop game, Donghae says "Ah, shi-- what is this?" more than once.
* HappilyMarried: In the opening for SJ Returns, two birds flying toward each other with hearts are shown and "[[PutOnABus Sungmin...]]" is written above it.
* HiddenDepths:
** The [=HeeTeuk=] couple's episode features the two of them going to a counselor (Heechul's idea), mainly so that Leeteuk can relieve his stress.
** Eunhyuk goes to a Korean traditional medicine clinic to get treatment for his body, which is in bad shape due to the years of dancing.
* HomoeroticSubtext: Invoked by the members during the "We Live Together" episodes, garnering "That's so fake!!!" reactions among the members themselves.
** There's also the footage of Donghae's visit to Eunhyuk's house, where it's implied that Donghae knows the password to Eunhyuk's house. Heechul remarks that the two look like a couple, and during their go stop game, Leeteuk reacts with "What are you two doing?!" upon seeing them [[ItMakesSenseInContext kissing]].
* HopelessWithTech: Donghae and Eunhyuk, who are fascinated by the new technology which came out while they were in the army.
* TheHost: Of course, Leeteuk.
* ImprobablyPredictable: Siwon, who just discharged from the army, upon seeing the SJ Rules contract:
--> '''Siwon''': This is either Leeteuk or Eunhyuk's handwriting? ''(It's actually Eunhyuk's handwriting)''
--> '''Siwon''': ''Be wise in using SNS. No personal emotions.'' This is referring to Leeteuk. ''Nothing meaningful''. Leeteuk. ''Nothing showing''. This is referring to Yesung. ''Decrease the usage of hashtags'', Yesung. ''Don't talk about moving.'' This is about Leeteuk. ''No complaining'', Leeteuk. ''Delete SNS'', Kim Heechul.
--> '''Siwon''': Kim Heechul did it too? No one hit him, right? ''(insert footage of Heechul being hit to sign the contract)''
* LanguageBarrier: The foreigners in the quiz game episodes start off by introducing and speaking to each other in their own foreign languages, presumably just to tease the members.
--> '''Eunhyuk''': You're all people that can speak Korean! You know how to speak it!
--> '''Eunhyuk''': The six of you need to speak Korean to understand each other!
--> '''Eunhyuk''': ''(after hearing a conversation between a Chinese and a Thai)'' They can't even understand each other!
* TheLeader: Emphasis is placed on Leeteuk's role as a leader, making a rule that his final decisions are to be followed without question.
* MeaningfulName: Donghae breaks an SNS rule (not giving out spoilers) by posting a photo on Instagram at Donghwa Station, where filming for the show was located. His defense is that he took the photo because Donghwa is his brother's name.
* MoodSwinger: Yesung, which he attributes to Eunhyuk constantly teasing him.
* {{Narcissist}}: The members discover that Donghae wrote himself a thank you message in the "Thanks to" part of their debut album.
--> '''19-year-old Donghae''': ''Donghae-ya, always smile and be considerate of others. Live life thinking that it's okay to lose some. Take care, I love you.''
* NotAMorningPerson: Eunhyuk is shown to wake up at 12 noon during a day without any schedules, but because he slept at 3 in the morning the previous night after watching TV.
* OneOfUs: Heechul (and to a lesser extent, Donghae) while playing a game during a livestream. After being stuck, he got annoyed and irritated immediately.
* {{Otaku}}: During the live broadcast episode, Yesung shows his love for basketball and Heechul shows off his gaming.
* PickyEater: Shindong's dislike for pizza and noodles is a disadvantage during the "Escape the Restaurant" episodes.
* PinkySwear: Donghae makes Eunhyuk and Shindong pinky promise that they won't pour ice water all over his face. Unfortunately for him, Shindong doesn't keep pinky promises.
* PutOnABus:
** Due to the scandal, most of Siwon's footage were cut out in SJ Returns and he does not appear in Super TV's first season. However, he is the member most featured in the paid video "SJ returns PLAY the unreleased video clips" and is set to join them on the second season.
** One of the clips in "SJ Returns PLAY the unreleased video clips" shows Kyuhyun's farewell party, since he was set to join the army. The members tell him that they'll keep SJ Returns running until he is discharged so that he could join the program.
** Kangin doesn't join the group to reflect on his DUI incident.
** Sungmin decides to withdraw from the promotions due to backlash from fans following his marriage, but he appears in Kyuhyun's segment during "SJ returns PLAY the unreleased video clips".
** Since Super Junior M isn't highlighted in this comeback, Zhoumi and Henry don't appear. Henry only appears in the background for SMTOWN Tokyo and SMTOWN Dubai, and his song ''I'm good'' is sung by Shindong and Donghae at one point.
* ReadTheFinePrint:
** After Siwon signs the SJ Rules contract, the other members joke about Siwon not reading the back side of the paper. Siwon quickly rereads the contract, discovering that the members were only joking. Eunhyuk regrets not writing on the back page.
** The contract for "We Live Together" actually has another rule printed in small letters in the page's border: the members have to pay 10,000 won each time they break a rule. All of the members are amazed by the production team's work.
* RiggedContest: During Sport's Day, Eunhyuk and Siwon decide to compete. Whoever falls into the water will promote the album and cheer three times, alongside the members who bet on them winning. They later decide that if they both don't fall into the water, Donghae, who doesn't want to play, will ride alone. Eunhyuk and Siwon succeed, but it's later revealed that Leeteuk suggested slowing down the boat so that it would be sure that Donghae goes in the water.
* RunningGag:
** Everyone asking Leeteuk to stop talking in broadcast tone and just speak normally.
** ''"You know what that's called?"'' ''"Being an attention seeker!"''
** ''"Is it alright if I swear while filming?"''
** Yesung's swearing, which causes the other members to imitate him and swear back.
** ''"Hyung, aren't you wearing too much accessories?"''
** Providing a nametag for Donghae so that people will know him.
** Donghae suddenly talking as if he was on the phone.
** Donghae and Eunhyuk being fascinated by the new technology which came out while they were in the army.
** ''"I can't do D&E anymore!"'' and ''"This is why being in D&E is so hard!"'' whenever one of them does something inappropriate.
** Getting a warning for anything that they do or say, which even includes the staff members and the van driver.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Each of the members are given a bill of money at different times (except for Leeteuk and Donghae, who were together), with the pretense that the staff picked up money that the member must have dropped somewhere.
** Yesung, after wondering if he dropped the money, casually places it in his pocket.
** Eunhyuk picks up the money, looks around, and keeps it for himself.
** Heechul doesn't even give any reply, he just stuffs the money in his pocket.
** Shindong insists it isn't his money and tells the staff member to keep it for herself instead.
** Leeteuk checks if it is his money while Donghae places it in his pocket.
--> '''Leeteuk:''' You know what's the worst? I told him, "Hey, Donghae, since the staff member picked it up, just give it to her." ''[but he said]'' "Nope~"
--> '''Shindong:''' You're screwed.
--> '''Eunhyuk:''' You're finished!
--> '''Shindong:''' Lee Donghae, you're done for, your real personality is coming out!
* SdrawkcabSpeech: Invoked with the "Rokkugo Game" in Season 2.
* ShowWithinAShow: One episode featured the members doing their own individual broadcasts on Instagram Live.
** Also within SJ Returns and Super TV, there's Heechul TV, Yesung TV, Shindong TV, Eunhyuk TV, and Donghae TV, where aforementioned members film themselves.
* StageNames: One of the show suggestions was to create a "King of Masked Singer" parody where singers who used stage names could sing using their real names. It's immediately lampshaded that four out of seven active members of the group use stage names (Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk).
* SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage: The member's Chinese ability, especially Donghae's (who could understand some questions just by hearing it once), comes into great advantage during the quiz show.
* SpecialGuest:
** Food blogger Banzz was featured in Super TV Episode 2.
** Episodes 3-4 featured Zhang Yuan, Samy Rashad, Lucky Abhishek Gupta, Tatchara Longprasert, Christian Burgos, and Fabien Yoon, foreigners who are living in Korea.
** Episodes 5-6 are narrated by Kim Saengmin and features a girl named Kim Jiyoon as the main female lead.
** Music/{{CLC}}, Music/{{WJSN}}, Gugudan, Weki Meki, and Fromis 9 appear in the 11th and 12th episode.
** Season 2's format is to invite guests each episode. For the first episode, the guests were Music/{{AOA}}.
* SweetTooth: While the other members dislike the idea of eating cheesecake, Siwon, with a smile, cooly says that he likes it, bringing relief to his team members.
* SymbolSwearing: Things like [[FunWithForeignLanguages shoes and beer]] are shown coming out from the members' mouths whenever they are swearing.
* TenderTears:
** Yesung, who cries while telling the members about his difficulties with promoting as a solo singer.
** Donghae, who cries while playing an arcade basketball game with Shindong and tears up during a performance with Cosmic Girls.
* TheBusCameBack: Siwon returns as a regular cast member for Super TV season 2.
** Donghae jokes that they should bring back the members one at a time for each season of Super TV (ex. Ryeowook for season 3).
* TranslateTheLoanwordsToo: During the quiz game, big hints to foreign questions are untranslatable proper nouns such as [[Animation/PororoTheLittlePenguin Pororo]], [[Literature/HarryPotter Harry Potter]], and [[Theatre/RomeoAndJuliet Romeo and Juliet]].
