Love Will Keep Us Together is the debut album of music duo Captain & Tennille. Released in 1975, it came to fruition after the two met as Beach Boys touring members.

The title track is the cover of a song written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield which turned out to be a worldwide hit and a signature song for Captain & Tennille (some say the song was the inspiration for Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart"). Other tracks featured are covers of Beach Boys songs (notably "Cuddle Up" which was originally written by Captain and Dennis Wilson) as well as the first recorded version of Bruce Johnston's "I Write the Songs". Following the successful Spanish version of the title track that the two recorded, the album was rerecorded under the title Por Amor Viviremos.

Tropes Will Keep Us Together:

  • Anaphora: "I Write the Songs":
I write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make those young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songs
  • Cherubic Choir: On the intro of "I Write the Songs".
  • Cover Version: Five songs on the album are covers, and most of them are related to The Beach Boys ("Disney Girls", "Cuddle Up" and "God Only Knows". Featured on the tracklist is the first appearance of Bruce Johnston's Grammy-winning hit "I Write the Songs" (which would get much more popular when Barry Manilow covered it), though he wasn't part of The Beach Boys back then.
    • The title track was originally co-written and performed by Neil Sedaka in 1973. Two years later, Captain & Tennille's version turned out to be a much bigger hit.
  • Devoted to You: "God Only Knows":
God only knows what I'd be without you
  • Face on the Cover: Featuring the duo and their pet bulldogs.
  • Lyrical Cold Open: "I Write The Songs"
  • Shout-Out:
    • "Disney Girls", besides obviously referencing the work of Walt Disney, mentions actress Patti Page and her 1957 song "Old Cape Cod".
    • During the fade-out of "Love Will Keep Us Together", Toni sings "Sedaka is back", acknowledging his authorship of the song and his then-ongoing comeback.
  • Special Guest: Legendary session drummer Hal Blaine plays on the title track.
  • Title Track: Captain & Tennille's biggest hit.
  • Translated Cover Version: The whole album! Por Amor Viviremos is a track-for-track Spanish rerecording of the album.
  • Truck Driver's Gear Change: "Disney Girls" and "I Write the Songs" (both songs being written by the same person, coincidentally).
