"Class of Cardinal Sin" is a 2021 folk-punk album and accompanying 2020 TikTok horror/mystery mini-series by musician Covey. The story of the miniseries revolves around the characters featured on the cover of the album- specifically, how each character died, how their lives and deaths are intertwined, and their time at the Class of Cardinal Sin, an evil high school in the Death Realm where inherently good souls are re-educated to become evil people.
Class of Cardinal Sin contains examples of:
- Absurdly Sharp Blade: Benjamin Bork uses one of these to cut his own arm off.
- Academy of Evil: What else would a school called the Class of Cardinal Sin be?
- Acrophobic Bird: Gretta Greene is one of these. When stranded on an island with her friends, instead of using her wings to fly back to the mainland, Gretta stays firmly planted on the ground. Even after both her friends are dead, she attempts to swim off the island rather than fly.
- Attack of the Monster Appendage: Benjamin Bork's arm.
- Barred from the Afterlife: The Fox, as the unfortunate carrier of the cultist's pain and suffering, is doomed to this.
- Blatant Burglar: Sunglasses, black hoodie, black beanie, and bandana. Penny Perkins is about as blatant as it gets.
- Class Pet: The class used to have one of these, until their teachers conspired to have it murdered.
- Creepy Cave: Doesn't get much creepier than a skull-shaped cave with a mysterious Tome of Eldritch Lore inside.
- Dead to Begin With: Everyone.
- Developing Doomed Characters: The entire series is built off of this. You go into each minute-long episode knowing the main character is going to die.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Sammy Jammy bumps into a man holding a coffee, doesn't spill anything, and apologizes profusely. Obviously, the rational response is for the man to murder her by pouring his scalding coffee on her head.
- Driven to Suicide: Gabe Godman.
- Life-or-Limb Decision: Benjamin Bork thinks he's making one of these when he cuts his arm off.
- School of Hard Knocks: At the Class of Cardinal Sin, fighting your fellow students isn't just allowed, it's encouraged. Fights are even bet on by the staff.
