Despite the light tone of the animated series, there are several examples of characters becoming irredeemable.

UNMARKED SPOILERS

  • Francis kidnapping almost half of the Inkling population, Meggy included, to extract their ink for the sole purpose of fueling the Ink Weaver to a point where he can have an island full of waifus- many of whom only in their early teens.- is a low blow. Murdering Desti, thus marking the first true Character Death in the series, fully confirms that there's no turning back for him.
  • Team Killer Ink's leader crossed it by pushing Meggy down a pit so they can win instead which, not only would've cost Team Splatsquad's Splatfest victory but, due to Meggy being a human, would've pretty much killed her right then and there if her friends didn't save her.
  • If paralyzing of his own brother and usurping his kingdom is not enough, Ernie from "If Mario was in Fall Guys" is revealed to be pretty much flaying the losers of his tournaments for who knows how long!
  • Niles crossed it before the series even began by forcefully merging with SMG0 to become a being powerful enough to destroy other universes.
  • If trapping the Glitchy Gang in a month-long Wild West simulation didn't clue you to how rotten he can get, One-Shot Wren fully sails over the line when he subjects Meggy to a terrifying, bloody "Groundhog Day" Loop as she tries to escape, driving the poor girl to the brink of insanity until Tari calms her down. Keep in mind that Wren was her idol.
  • The Box Club Leader crosses it after kidnapping the gang to use the SMG meme energy manipulation to transmute meme energy into a spaceship just to access the God Box, an artifact which can and will endanger the entire world.
