* ''Literature/LancelotTheKnightOfTheCart'': Lancelot was raised by an adoptive fairy mother. He has a {{ring|OfPower}} she gave him, and he thinks it can be used to summon her. [[SubvertedTrope Except it can't.]] Given the passage's phrasing, it's not even clear if she ever told him it could, or if Lancelot just made that up like the {{Cloudcuckoolander}} he is.
-->''Holding the ring before his eyes, he gazed at it, and said: "Lady, lady, so help me God, now I have great need of your succour!" This lady was a fairy, who had given it to him, and who had cared for him in his infancy. And he had great confidence that, wherever he might be, she would aid and succour him. [[SubvertedTrope But after appealing to her and gazing upon the ring, he realises that there is no enchantment here, but that they are actually shut in and confined.]]''

* According to one of Remnant's {{Creation Myth}}s in ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'', the Two Brothers who created humanity created four relics with powers representing the gifts the gods gave to man. In Volume 6, we learn that [[spoiler:not only are the gods and their relics real, if the four relics are brought together in one place, the Two Brothers will be summoned back to Remnant. This will be the day of reckoning as the Brothers will [[HumanityOnTrial judge humanity]] to see if they are worthy of being restored to their original glory or be destroyed]].

* In most versions of [[GenieinaBottle stories involving Genies]], Genies are bound to vessels and are summoned by rubbing or unlocking the vessel in some manner. Depending on the Story the Genie is either bound to the Vessel by supernatural means and must be wished free, otherwise they cannot leave it of their own free will. Also story dependant is the ability to send the Genie back into the vessel, usually involving making a wish, verbal commands or using all of the avaiable wishes without freeing the Genie. And in some cases, Releasing the Genie means they're out for good with no geas or restrictions. This works too.

* In ''Series/Charmed1998'', Genie Bottles act like this. For Exmaple:In one episode, Phoebe gets herself [[BecomingTheGenie turned into a Genie]], she's forced to obey being called forth and sent back into the bottle she's bound to numerous times, either by someone rubbing the bottle or through verbal commands by her Master, usually to her annoyance. This applies to other Genies we see throughout the series too.
