* In ''Revenge of the Island'', [[spoiler:Anne Maria]] quits after finding a huge diamond, deciding that the game and prize money had become irrelevant. Chris lets her go, but immediately lets her know that the diamond is actually cubic zirconia, and that is's practically worthless.

* Early in Season 25 Luke Valentine (who is white) was ejected from the house after he dropped the n-word during a conversation.

* The most famous was Osten in ''Pearl Islands''. He claimed that his body was shutting down, but nobody believed him and said that it was because he just couldn't take it anymore. (Well, he ''did'' barter away all his clothing except for his boxers...) It was somewhat clear Osten wasn't fitting in on the show -- in a past episode, while his fellow tribe members had fun with a nearby pelican, his reaction was to ''glare at it'' and ''sharpen his machete''.

** Brooks Way were one of the three groups to make it to 2016's live shows but made a No Show during the first Saturday show. At ITV's suggestion the band withdrew from the competition which was announced the day after that week's elimination.

Brad would power through service, he decided to leave right afterwards to let his body rest.

* In Season 17, Josh Trovato was ejected after being thrown out of the kitchen and coming back to try to plead his case.

Eventually, the pain got to the point where the medical crew took him away from camp, and two days after the event, Jeff went to camp to inform his tribemates that Bruce was suffering from a blocked digestive system, and was officially removed from the game. Fortunately, Bruce recovered enough to be on the jury.

* Janu Tornell of ''Palau'' quit the game, and she actually was the first to attempt it as a gameplay maneuver -- everyone else on the Koror tribe was mocking her and constantly belittling her. She obviously wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon, since their main target was Stephenie [=LaGrossa=] (the true outsider and the only Ulong member left, after the absolute thrashing that saw Koror only have one elimination before the merge and curbstomp Ulong in turn). So in order to [[ThanatosGambit "throw a wrench in their works", she voluntarily quit the game.]] The fact that she had been sick since early in the game and was practically wasting away also factored in her decision, Koror likely would have voted her off far earlier if they hadn't won all but one of the challenges and it was surprising she hung in there for so long.

Ocassionally, a situation will come up where Jeff bypasses the normal voting procedure and instead polls the tribe to validate someone's departure. These are officially recorded as "being voted out" but in practice it's just a rubberstamp on a departure that's happening for another reason.

* In ''Survivor 45'', Hannah quickly realized that she was in over her head (partially due to nicotine withdrawl) and asked to be sent home at the first Tribal Council over people who actually wanted to be there. Even so, the rest of the tribe considered keeping her around and eliminating other more strategic options instead, until she said that if they ''didn't'' send her home, she might still walk out on her own anyway. This made them realize she was dead serious, and when Jeff asked they immediately agreed to let her go.

** The ninth season promos featured a mask called the French Hen that ended up not appearing in the season. As it turns out, the French Hen tested positive for COVID and had to withdraw. The costume was later reused in the following season as the Royal Hen.

* ''Series/TheTraitorsUS'': At the end of episode 5 it was revealed Amanda had left the game due to reasons beyond her control. She later stated that she had tested positive for COVID and had to be removed.
