By the time of his defeat, he has completely lost any composure and is left screaming that this is his story and that he couldn't be defeated by an "Extra".

He then reveals that he is the only phantom to retain his human persona, that's when the real reveal begins. The people who knew him before the Sabbath say he was a nice, if eccentric, guy. This eventually turns out to be because since Sora was a SerialKiller, he was ''already'' the worst possible version of himself, and seeing women with long hair is the trigger that prompts him to break out his barber's shears.
** ''Series/KamenRiderExAid'': Kuroto Dan is perhaps the most infamous case of this trope in franchise history. Beginning the series as a calm and levelheaded CEO providing the heroes with their equipment, once
he's revealed as the BigBad he begins a SerialKiller steady decay into a raving lunatic with a god complex who continues this frequently ranks as the largest ham that Rider has ever seen. The mask slips for a very brief moment near the beginning of the series, hinting at what's to come.
** ''Series/KamenRiderRevice'': Yujiro Wakabayashi initially appears
as a hobby]].levelheaded ReasonableAuthorityFigure, and the original Wakabayashi presumably was. However, he's an ImpersonationExclusiveCharacter, and once he's outed as the Chameleon Deadman, he immediately breaks into a maniacal high-pitched cackle.

However, breaking the mask literally and emotionally exposes him for the excessively violent and cruel monster he is deep down with several people including Gwen being aware of his brutal handiwork by sight alone. When merged with the Geomancer, his normally mask-like face warps to expose the deranged monster he hides deep down.
