-->-- A Little Sister talking to a Big Daddy, Videogame/BioShock

How do you show that your pet is special? When you want to go above and beyond a normal pet name, a formal title is the easiest way to add some sophistication. He's not just Fluffernutter, he's Mister Fluffernutter! You can usually expect such a pet to be a little lap dog or a pampered kitty. However, they may occasionally be horrible giant scary monsters, so beware.

Often overlaps with MisterMuffykins. The RightHandCat is often a Formally-Named Pet. Likewise in pet-related cases of ConsultingMisterPuppet. Depending on the honorific chosen, this can aid in/lead to YourTomcatIsPregnant. Literature/HowNotToWriteANovel mentions this as something that is overdone.

* In this ad for Petsmart, a man has an unseen pet named Mr. Barkey von Schnauzer.

* In the English version of Anime/RanmaOneHalf, Kodachi's pet is "Mr. Green Turtle". And no, it isn't a turtle .
* As a Shout Out to Maison Ikkoku, the inhabitants of Higansou in Manga/OtakuNoMusumeSan get a large dog and name it Mister Soichiro.

* Variation in Literature/DaveBarrySleptHere: James II's dog is named Bart XI.
* Literature/LifeOfPi has an unusual variation in Richard Parker, the 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger (who's a zoo animal rather than strictly a pet). He's always referred to by his full name. The hunter who caught him was named Richard Parker and wanted to name him "Thirsty" (since he was caught while drinking), but he mixed up the paperwork so that legally, the tiger was Richard Parker and its captor was listed as Thirsty None Given.
* Literature/Animorphs had Melissa Chapman's cat, who was named Fluffer [=McKitty=]. Marco makes fun of the cat's name at one point, exaggerating it into "Fluffer [=McNutter=] or whatever that stupid cat's name is." Note that the trope description, above, uses an example extremely close to this.

* In VideoGame/SuperPaperMario, Pook has a goldfish called Captain Gills.
* In VideoGame/TastyPlanet Back for Seconds, cats (in the lab and future levels) have random individual names instead of being called just "cat". Sometimes the names get formal prefixes, resulting in names like "Ms. Kitty", "Mrs. Bitey", "Sir Pookie" or "Captain Patches".
