The creation of the ''Anime/DigimonSavers'' anime meant a rebirth of the franchise, and that included the release of a new game, Franchise/{{Digimon}} World Data Squad (Digimon Savers:Another mission in Japan). ''Digimon World Data Squad'' is a turn based 3D RPG where you play as the main character of ''Anime/DigimonSavers'', Marcus, but can also control other digimon.

The story adapts one possible arc from the anime. The main opponents are the seven demon lords and it's up to the player to find out how they are being reborn as well as to prevent them from reaching their goal. As you investigate, you will also be required to battle frequently, and find out the bonus bosses. (Most notably, [[VideoGame/DigimonAdventure02D1Tamers Moon=Millenniummon]])

!!This game provides examples of:
* CelShading: The first Digimon game that employs this technique, actually.
* CherryTapping: True to the [[Anime/DigimonSavers show]], Marcus always punches one of the enemy Digimon before a [=DigiSoul=] Charge. Since this does damage, he may end up finishing the enemy {{Mon}} off. DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu, indeed.
* ContractualBossImmunity: Played straight in that bosses are immune to all StandardStatusEffects. They are affected by status debuffs, though.
* DamageSpongeBoss: The bosses in general have much more HP than other Digimon. Taken UpToEleven with the [[BonusBoss Bonus Bosses]]: it takes multiple hits that do 9999 damage (the [[{{Cap}} highest possible amount]]) to get their health ''halfway'' down.
** Actually, there is no damage cap. It only ''displays'' 9999 at most, but it is perfectly possible to deal over that amount. This makes the damage sponging aspect even ''more'' ridiculous!
* DisappearedDad: Nitta is this for Manami. [[spoiler: Until he returns to the Real World and gets freed of Creepymon... but he disappears again soon enough. [[TearJerker This time permanently.]] ]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: After beating Yushima for the third time, he tells Kamemon to put paralyzing powder in Marcus' tea. [[SubvertedTrope Of course, he's just joking.]]
* ExtremeOmnivore: The child whose sin was Gluttony wanted to eat Agumon. Que the next conversation taking place with the Digimon in question [[FunnyBackgroundEvent running around in the background in panic with the kid after him]].
* [[FiveBadBand Seven Bad Band]]: The seven mao digimons.
** BigBad: Lucemon
** TheDragon: Creepymon
** TheBrute: Belphemon, Beelzemon, Leviamon
** EvilGenius: Barbamon
** TheDarkChick: Lilithmon
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Lilithmon's pre-battle dialogue in which she refers to Marcus, Thomas and Crier as "strapping young men" and wishes to take them to the Dark Area to "suck their life away". Keep in mind that her sin is {{Lust}} and that she is named after a [[HornyDevils succubus]] and the implications become rather unpleasant. [[{{Squick}} Especially considering that the "strapping young men" she's talking about are all underage.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Kosaburo comes off as a {{Jerkass}} at first, but turns out to be just doing his job. He is really a decent guy, if his actions after [[spoiler: joining the DATS crew]] are of any implication.
* KnightTemplarBigBrother: [[spoiler: Granted, Kagura's belief that Yuma wanted a brother who is above everyone else was mostly thanks to Lucemon's meddling, but still.]]
* LoadsAndLoadsOfLoading: Let's just say that anything that requires pressing a button (analog stick and shoulder buttons excluded) will result in at least a bit of lag and be done with it.
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler: Well, more like Twelve-Winged Apocalyptic Devil Dragon, but Lucemon Satan Mode is this to Lucemon Falldown Mode.]]
* RealMenWearPink: Kosaburo's jacket is hot pink. Not to mention that his partner Digimon is Biyomon, a mostly pink bird.
* SevenDeadlySins: Each Demon Lord corresponds to one of the Seven Deadly Sins ([[{{Bowdlerise}} bowdlerized]] to the Seven Sins in the US version). Each Demon Lord also ends up possessing a person who has strong feelings of the sin they represent.
* StandardStatusEffects:
** Poison deals some damage when the afflicted Digimon's turn begins.
** Sleep immobilizes the Digimon for some turns, as does Freeze.
** Panic causes the Digimon to randomly attack any other Digimon in battle, friend or foe. Panicked enemy Digimon may simply flee.
** Some attacks have a chance of "turning the opponent back into a Digiegg", effectively resulting in instant death.
* StatusBuff: Notably, you can use multiple different buffs that increase a Digimon's attack power tremendously... and they stack, leading to absolutely ludicrous amounts of damage if you actually take the time set them up. There are also the "Set" debuffs which can be used to set a Digimon's stats to ridiculously low levels. [[GameBreaker And these moves also work on bosses.]]
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: While the other Demon Lords become [[BonusBoss Bonus Bosses]] near the end of the game, Lilithmon is not fought. Instead, Yuma has a little talk with her about how she can't turn a blind eye to Lilithmon because [[spoiler: she is a "part of Yuma" thanks to being created out of her feelings of loneliness]]. In the end, Yuma's kindness makes Lilithmon feel genuinely loved and she disappears quietly. That's right, Yuma managed to make ''the physical embodiment of Lust'' [[BeyondTheImpossible feel pure love]].
* WouldntHitAGirl: Marcus' reaction to seeing Lilithmon is that he "can't hit a woman". [[GameplayAndStorySegregation Siccing a fire-breathing cyborg dinosaur on her is perfectly okay, though.]]
** If Agumon meets the requirements to Digisoul Charge and you use it (hope you're going Rise Greymon or better!), [[WouldHitAGirl Marcus becomes an outright liar]].
