Logo Joke / LucasArts

Go To

Doing the "normal" logo was usually the exception rather than the rule for LucasArts.

  • Star Wars video games:
    • Jedi Knight series:
      • Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast: The logo falls into place from the camera's perspective, with the arch forming into place to the sound of a lightsaber deactivating.
      • Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy: The arch turn into two lightsabers, which the Gold Guy connects at the hilts and spins to deflect several blaster bolts, then launches lightning from his hand at something offscreen.
    • The Force Unleashed: The Gold Guy runs in from the side of the screen with a red lightsaber in hand, tossing it only to have to duck when it comes back, cutting in the arch over his head. He then unleashes lightning from his hands, burning the text into place beneath him.
    • Star Wars: Bounty Hunter: Jango Fett ties up the Gold Guy and yanks him off the logo, then flies onto it with his jetpack and uses his flamethrower to produce his own golden arc to hold.
    • Star Wars: Episode I - Jedi Power Battles features the Gold Guy leaping off of his base and the design above him becoming a lightsaber, with which he promptly attacks the screen.
    • Star Wars Episode I: Racer: Several podracers speed past the Gold Guy before Sebulba's crashes right through him; he's then repaired by some pit droids.
    • Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: The Gold Guy falls over to reveal a battle droid hiding behind him, who then shoots the camera.
    • Star Wars: Republic Commando features the Gold Guy rendered in monochrome and static, in keeping with the Darker and Edgier theme of the game.
    • Star Wars Starfighter: The Gold Guy ducks under a Naboo starfighter as it flies above him, then hangs on for dear life as he finds himself on the nose of another one.
    • Rogue Squadron: The LucasArts logo forms the scenery for a starfighter duel, then an X-wing pulls a trench run on the Factor 5 logo.
      • In the sequel, the shape of the Gold Guy is formed by hundreds of tap-dancing stormtroopers.
      • Rogue Squadron III: The normal logo zooms out to reveal it's on Darth Vader's chest, revealing he and the other primary characters are dancing to a disco version of the main Star Wars theme.
      • The Spin-Off Battle for Naboo had the Gold Guy on a STAP Hover Bike being chased by a pair of battle droids also riding STAPs through small valleys, evading capture by crashing into the LucasArts logo, which then falls over after being buzzed by a trio of N-1 starfighters. Those starfighters then start their attack on the Droid Control Ship, which turns out to be forming the C of Factor 5's logo.
    • Obi-Wan from 2001 had the Gold Guy use the Force to summon the LucasArts logo to him.
    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Gold Guy is marching, the arch over his shoulder like a rifle, zooming out to reveal several more marching Gold Guys that are revealed to make up the logo.
  • Afterlife (1996), where the Gold Guy first falls into a flaming-red lava pit... and then flies out with a halo and wings into a heavenly white light off the screen.
  • Armed and Dangerous: features three versions of the 'Gold Guy' based on the game characters drinking tea.
  • Big Sky Trooper: The Slug leader and a lackey descend on the Gold Guy, discuss how it has bones and appears to be an ad, then destroy it - as the Slug leader declares, the two things he hates are bones and advertising.
  • The end credits of Day of the Tentacle featured Purple Tentacle scaring the Gold Guy away and taking his place.
  • Gladius: The arc above the Gold Guy turns into a sword. He holds it aloft like He-Man, and then a lightning strike electrifies him.
  • In Grim Fandango we see the Gold Guy turn into a skeleton, with the ray above also skeletonized.
  • Monkey Island video games:
  • The trailer for the cancelled Sam & Max: Freelance Police!! features the Gold Guy investigating the logo with a magnifying glass. He drops it, causing the logo to shatter like glass.
  • Secret Weapons Over Normandy features the Gold Guy come under attack by a German fighter plane, and then rescued by an American fighter, before wiping his brow in relief and projecting the arc.
