Stick Dog is a Children's Book Series by Tom Watson.

The series follows Stick Dog, who's called that because of the very simplistic boxy style in which he's drawn, which includes stick limbs because the author admits he doesn't know how to draw. He lives in an empty pipe out by highway 16 and sleeps upon an old couch cushion he fished out from behind a store.

And that's how he likes it.

Stick Dog and his friends, which include Poo-Poo the Poodle, Karen the Dachshund, Stripes the Dalmation, and Mutt the... mutt, usually spend their days getting together for some humble goal or other, which usually revolves around finding food.

So far, there are twelve books in the series.

  • Stick Dog Wants A Hot Dog (October 2013)
  • Stick Dog Chases A Pizza (July 2014)

Stick Dog contains examples of:

  • Black Bead Eyes: Most humans in the books are drawn with little black dot eyes.
  • Black Dot Pupils: As part of the series' Stylistic Suck look, all of the dogs are drawn with their eyes in this manner.
  • Call-Back: A number of them in the series.
  • Christmas Episode: "Stick Dog Comes To Town".
  • Crossover: "Stick Dog Crashes A Party" has Stick Cat aid the dogs in their mission to get food from the wedding reception.
  • Cute Kitten: In "Stick Dog Chases A Pizza", Stripes gets distracted by seeing two small paws in the passenger seat of a truck. Upon seeing they belong to a kitten, she immediately becomes enamoured with it and wants to make it a part of their group. Then she finds out the kitten belongs to a truck driver, and is disappointed to have to say goodbye to it.
  • Dogs Hate Squirrels: In the first book, Poo-Poo gets distracted from the group's mission to get hamburgers from a picnicing family by a squirrel in a tree, who even throws an acorn at him.
  • Exact Words: At the end of the book, the dogs find a bucket full of lollipops telling trick-or-treaters to "please take one". Everyone does take one. One lollipop for most of them, and one bucket full of lollipops for Poo-Poo.
  • Halloween Episode: Book 7, Stick Dog Craves Candy, is set on Halloween Night.
  • Hammerspace Hair: Mutt tends to store things in his fur. Whenever he shakes himself, a lot of stuff comes out of it.
  • Humble Goal: The objective of the books is for Stick Dog and co. to get food.
  • Ironic Name: One of the characters is a Dalmation named Stripes.
  • Noodle Incident: In the first book, Stripes reveals she used to be a guard dog at a mall. But that ended with "The Nacho Cheese Grande Incident".
  • Protagonist Title: Stick Dog is the protagonist of the series.
  • Scooby Stack: Stick Dog and his friends do one in Chapter 9 of "Stick Dog Wants A Hot Dog".
  • The Smart One: Stick Dog is this among his group.
  • Sommelier Speak: Poo-Poo is prone to doing this whenever he tastes something new in the books.
  • Stylistic Suck: The books are drawn in a primitive stick figure style. All the dogs, despite being different species, all have the same boxy body type.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: The female dog characters all have eyelashes. Not so much the males.
  • Use Your Head: Poo-Poo is fond of headbutting things. When Stick Dog finally asks him why he does it, Poo-Poo says it's because he enjoys when the pain stops.
  • Wedding Episode: "Stick Dog Crashes A Party".
