Something Promised: A Police Crime Thriller (also known by the title A Woman Only Shows What She Wants A Man to See) is a self-published British police procedural thriller novel written by Nick Roteman.

The book follows Anna Inglis, a civilian crime analyst rendered permanently disabled after a hit-and-run. She uses a wheelchair and is an amputee relegated to desk duty. Frustrated by her situation, Anna escalates to crime when she remembers who her attacker is, and her police department notices a body count rising as the crime analyst is increasingly driven insane by the desire for vengeance.

This book contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Covers Always Lie: The book cover depicts a sexy CGI female witch, complete with her pointy sorceress hat, striped goth pantyhose and dark dress. The book is about a disabled amputee cop getting revenge on her attackers. She's in a wheelchair and works as a crime analyst in the U.K...
  • Evil Cripple: Anna, but can anybody blame her? She was run over by a guy on purpose, after all. Her desire for revenge takes her over and makes her more obsessive, but she only just brushes up against "evil" slightly.
  • Post-Injury Desk Job: Poor Anna after she is hit by a vehicle on purpose.
  • Toilet Humour: A little girl passes wind and refers to it as "making a stinky".
