The Goosebumps Series 2000 book where Slappy is the star.

Slappy the Dummy has ruined yet another of Jimmy O'James' ventriloquist acts, and Jimmy's sick of it. Buying a new dummy named Wally, who can also be brought to life and put Slappy to sleep forever, he gives Slappy to sisters Stella and Georgia, with the warning that because of the spell he's under now, he must do three good deeds within a week or be permanently out of commission. Desperate to stay alive so he can keep doing his evil, Slappy does his best, but someone's sabotaging his every attempt, which could mean his doom...

This book provides examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: Averted. Mom actually does want to call out the kids for their actions and takes away Slappy when it becomes clear it is causing nothing but trouble between the two.
  • All Just a Dream: The twist reveals that it was all Slappy's dream but then Jimmy comes in and a scene from earlier repeats, with him saying "Sometimes dreams come true".
  • Canon Discontinuity: While Jimmy O' James from Bride of the Living Dummy returns, it's otherwise ignored with no explanation as how Slappy ended up with him again.
  • Darker and Edgier: This one gets more violent than usual. Highlights including a boy almost getting strangled and Slappy planning to murder Stella (because he believes she's sabotaging his attempts at doing good) at one point.
  • Dream Within a Dream: The twist reveals it was all a dream but there was a dream sequence prior, meaning he was having a dream in a dream.
  • Disappeared Dad: It's mentioned by Georgia and Stella's mother that their father is dead, and they've been acting more hostile to each other since then.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: When the saboteur wraps up a kid in drapes, Slappy finds it sick. Although it's mostly the sabotaging his deeds part he finds awful, as he says he'd wrap a kid in drapes just for fun.
  • Here We Go Again!: After it is revealed to all be a dream, Jimmy brings out the curse from his dream, saying that sometimes dreams come true.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Stella and Georgia, much like Lindy and Kris in the first book. They're always at each others' throats, with Stella being especially bad.
  • Spoiler Title: The title gives away the twist that it was all a dream.
  • Villain Episode: This book is written in the evil dummy Slappy's POV and revolves around Slappy having to do three good deeds in order to stay animated.
