The Goosebumps SlappyWorld book where a robot causes havoc.

Livvy Jones is on the school robotics team and she and her friend Gates have created a realistic looking robot named Francine. But soon their creation starts acting strangely. Has Francine just simply malfunctioned or something more sinister at play?

This book provides examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: Justified. At first it's the usual shtick of them not believing their daughter, but it eventually turns out Mrs. B was controlling them and also had robot versions of them, so most of the time they were actually in on it.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The premise. Livvy builds a robot with AI, which goes crazy. It turns out that their housekeeper is actually a robot who, you guessed it, went crazy and sabotaged Livvy's robot.
  • Alpha Bitch: Rosa, who is on Livvy's robotics team and is always trying to outdo her.
  • Beta Bitch: Sara Blum, who used to be Livvy's friend prior to joining Rosa's crew.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: The book starts with Livvy telling Gates a dream she had about their robot turning evil, which is what seems to start happening for real. Later, Gates tells her he's been having similar dreams about Francine, although that might just be because of his anxious personality.
  • Here We Go Again!: Francine turns on again at the end, demanding that everyone listen to her, so no one gets hurt.
  • Parodies for Dummies: After Livvy experiences repeated problems with the robot she's building, Rosa gives her a copy of "Robotics For Dummies".
  • Portmanteau: Livvy's robotics coach frequently uses "cooperatition", a portmanteau of cooperation and competition. She finds this word ridiculous.
  • Puppy Love: Livvy is noticeably more fond and protective toward Gates than is usual in most other books.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: The protagonist discovers that not only is the housekeeper a robot her parents built, but the robot itself built robot clones of her parents, who she's been interacting with for weeks or months without realizing they weren't the real ones.
  • Tuckerization: As noted over in Trivia, Gates is named after a kid whose family won an auction.
  • Shout-Out: The title is an obvious one to the famous line from Frankenstein.
