I Was Cursed By the Black-Eyed Kids
is an online horror story concerning the nameless protagonist encountering two black-eyed boys whilst out on a nightly jog. When he gets touched by one of the boys, this culminates in a curse that he unwittingly spreads to his neighbors.
This story provides examples of:
- Bad People Abuse Animals: Brunette kills the roommate of the protagonist's pet dog as well as other animals in the apartment.
- Big Bad: The nameless brown-haired BEK dubbed Brunette.
- Black Eyes of Evil: The Black-Eyed Children's trademark features.
- Creepy Child: Brunette and Blondie, but the narrator makes it crystal clear that whatever they were, they were most definitely not children.
- For the Evulz: Aside from trying to steal the narrator's life force, Brunette seems to value terrorizing him.
- Humanoid Abomination: The Black-Eyed Children are paranormal entities that resemble human children but speak monotonously or more beyond their supposed age range. Brunette himself hardly bothers conveying that he isn't human.
- Life Drinker: The Black-Eyed Children's purpose allegedly is to feed on the life force of their victims for sustenance.
- May It Never Happen Again: The nameless protagonist is haunted by the titular black-eyed creatures, Brunette and Blondie. After Brunette beheads Blondie, Brunette ends up departing into the mist. The protagonist fears that Brunette will return, so he actively tries to avoid him by collecting lucky charms and only working the daytime shift at his job.

- Would Hurt a Child: As a result of the curse he embedded onto the protagonist, Brunette had caused several children to develop an illness that claimed many lives.
