The plot concerns a fateful encounter between Jermaine and a white policewoman and the fallout afterwards.

- Demonic Possession: Jermaine has this as one of his ghost powers. He takes over the body of an old white man to stop the man's harassment of a young black woman.
- Flight: Jermaine has this as one of his ghost powers.
- Intangibility: Jermaine has this as one of his ghost powers. He accidentally phases through the sidewalk.
- Invisibility: Jermaine has this as one of his ghost powers. He disappears and reappears without even trying. He later uses this power to secretly attend his own funeral.
- Killer Cop: A white policewoman shoots and kills Jermaine after he refuses to show her his ID.
- Monochrome Apparition: Jermaine’s ghost is all-green in color.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: Jermaine's soul, which is all-green, becomes a ghost after he's killed by a white policewoman. He gains Demonic Possession, Flight, Intangibility, and Invisibility as ghost powers.
- Our Souls Are Different: After Jermaine's shot and killed by a white policewoman, his soul (which is all-green) rises up from his body.
- Police Brutality: A white policewoman shoots and kills Jermaine after he refuses to show her his ID.
