Heartwarming / Zombie Prom

• Every single moment between Jonny and Toffee, when not funny or sad, is bound to have something there that will make your heart just melt. “The Voice in the Ocean,” “How Can I Say Goodbye?,” “Easy to Say,” and “Forbidden Love” are some of the best examples. Sure it's cheesy, but it's played so earnestly you can't help but find it honestly sweet alongside the humor.
  • Jonny goes so far as to propose to her on national television. “Toffee, don’t say we’re through, cuz baby, I fought back hell for you! Say that you’ll be my wife! Say that you’ll share my afterlife! I’ll never cease to try for you who I live and died for! Oh, I’ll never say goodbye to love!”
  • After which Toffee joyfully sings, “Jon without an H, you will always be my guy!”
• When Jonny returns as a zombie, stranger Eddie Flagrante's the only one not afraid of him. This also foreshadows Eddie's bloodline to Jonny. Sure, he's just out for a story, but he also seems to genuinely believe in Jonny's cause and takes a liking to him. Jonny even happily exclaims that no one has ever stood up for him this way.
• Despite her actions causing more harm than good, Ms. Strict seems genuine enough in her concern for Toffee’s well-being, trying to keep her from making the same mistakes she did.
• The fact that Eddie never calls Ms. Strict anything but “Delilah” or “my love.” From the moment they reunite, he’s determined to get her back. Despite their years apart, there’s clearly never been anyone for him but this cranky, uptight woman. “After all these years, Delilah, we finally made it to the dance!”
  • And despite initially being angry with him, Delilah loves Eddie just as much. She instantly and joyfully accepts his proposal at the end.
• Just how quickly Delilah and Jonny accept each other as mother and son, despite being in conflict for most of the show. And Eddie instantly accepts responsibility for his newfound family. He’s just so happy to have them back…
• How supportive the other students are of Jonny and Toffee, even petitioning for zombie rights.
