Comparing to the novel, the characters of the series have been softened and more in touch with their feelings (most prominently Zhou Zishu). This led to the series containing many heart-warming scenes.

- Chengling throwing himself at Zhou Zishu as a human shield, despite being at the time total strangers.
- Zhou Zishu waking Chengling from a nightmare rather gently.
- When Zhou Zishu scolds Chengling for not knowing martial arts at his age, Wen Kexing comforts him.Wen Kexing: Silly boy, have you ever heard that the one who dislikes you is the one who is really good to you? Your Uncle Zhou scolded you for not working hard just to enlighten you. Be smart.
- Albeit a hallucination, Qin Huaizhang with his son, Qin Jiuxiao playing in the snow, while Zhou Zishu smiles at the domestic display of his family.
- Wen Kexing whispering to himself that it is really Zhou Zishu.
- The Ghost Valley Chief and The ex leader of Tian Chuang splashing water at each other like children.
- All of Cao Weining's appearances are quite endearing because of his good-like nature.
- Gu Xiang and Wen Kexing sticking their tongues out at each other like siblings, showing that their relationship is closer than a master and a servant.
- Despite Zhou Zishu saying that his relationship ends with Chengling once they reach Zhao Jing, he immediately sprinted once he realised that Chengling and Gao Chong are about to be ambushed by Tian Chuang, risking his life for Chengling. He later say to Wen Kexing that he couldn't bear to see Chengling in danger and surrounded by people who just see him as an object.
- Wen Kexing says he'll put himself in danger for Zhou Zishu because, "A gentleman is willing to die for his Zhījǐ". And in case that wasn't obvious enough, he later tells Zhou Zishu "You're my Zhījǐ".
- One of the small displays of Zhou Zishu warming up to Wen Kexing was him smiling at Wen Kexing dancing to the music in the performance party of the Western Regions.
- Gu Xiang looking happy at Cao Weining's willingness to protect her.
- Zhou Zishu telling Wen Kexing "I didn't know how or when you would come. But I knew you would definitely come." note
