Just Say Yes
- Blaire acts as a big sister figure not only to Johnny but also to Ted. She makes it clear that she has always been trying to look out for the two, so they wouldn’t end up like her family. She becomes grateful when the two convince Matty to let her stay.
- The first thing Ted does when he sees Johnny being bullied by Clive is to stand up for him, and as a bonus, even showing support for gay people in the process.
- Even though he’s glad to have Ted at school, Johnny still wants to help Ted get expelled so he could stay at home.
- Showing how much of a sweet person she is, Susan reveals that once, she met her old high school bully who recently lost a hand. For a brief moment, she was happy but immediately felt terrible about it. She even wanted to get her a gift to make up for the loss of the hand.
- What did Ted do to convince Matty to let Blaire stay after selling them weed? He gave Matty the mouth guard from “Rocky” by Sylvester Stallone, something he had kept hidden just in case.
My Two Dads
- While the prank went too far, John and Ted, despite hating Clive, feel extremely guilty for making him cry and later attempt suicide. They try to make it up to Clive by pretending to be his dad again, teaching him math, and becoming proud when he passes. They even later try to get him a Sega Genesis as a birthday gift.
- After Clive finds out the truth, he is understandably enraged until Ted gives him an important lesson: anyone can be a dad. And because of the two, Clive is smiling more, his grades are improving, and he’s planning to take guitar lessons. The three make up and continue to enjoy Clive’s birthday that they arrange for him.
- After some pressure from Blaire, Matty confesses what he did in Vietnam. After revealing why it happened and how much it haunts him, his family becomes understanding and eases his conscience.
Ejectile Dysfunction
- Blaire taking the fall for Ted and John possessing the tape to spare Susan’s feelings. She even tells Susan that Matty has to be blind and stupid to ever get bored of Susan.
Loud Night
- Matty apologizing to Blaire for how he treated her and Sarah over dinner and admitting that he needs her.
